In my opinion, iPad is not a replacement for computers. It's just extra gadget after your computer. It lacks many more features even though APPLE said it has 140,000 apps and still counting.
I will just say, it's a iPhone with bigger screen ( When 3G version will come out ). And yes I saw it last week on Best Buy. Looks cool though.

The price isn't really high considering it's coming from Apple and the user interface seems to be great but it has following major limitations:
1. No Multitasking: You can run one non-Apple application at a time. 2. No Flash Support: You can’t run Flash applications on Web pages. 3. No Camera and no way to add one.
this magical techno-toy is not a complementary to Notebook/laptop so I'll wait until price drops and newer less buggier ones come out.

if you are buying as your primary computer, then definitely don't go for ipad. As someone pointed out, the cost of the apps is extra and developers of the ipad apps charge more than the same app for iphone.

What's your primary purpose of getting a new device? My friend has the iPad, and although i was skeptical at first, I am starting to see what a convenient device it is. It's easier to simply whip out the iPad and start doing stuff right away than it is a laptop or a netbook, and it has an awesome battery life. Browsing the internet and doing stuff in general is a much better experience to be honest. However, when doing serious work, working on a tiny device is a pain. Not to mention, you can't just install any computer software you want on it. And apps cost money. If this purchase is going to be your primary computing device, invest in a laptop. If you already own a desktop or something, then you'll probably love the iPad.
