i have my own ss # but since i am not supposed to work off campus, will filing my tax as a joint tax (applying the itin # for my wife) be a problem?

If you are filing tax and you are married, you must file married filing jointly. If your spouse did not have ss number or ITIN number, you have apply for ITIN number. But you already have ITIN number. That means you do not need to apply for ITIN number. IF you are student , check if you qualify for 1040 filing instead of 1040 NR.
