If you already have a Masters from Nepal, do Universities accept credit transfers, especially if you are going to be working in the same major? I would appreciate if someone could advise.

If you have masters on the same subject, I don't think they would even take you as a student to study twice on the same subject. If they accept you, then this will totally depend upon the university which you applied to. They or the students studying over there can say it you; nobody else.

Shrisha, If you are asking if grad schools here accept credits transfers for a masters program from another similar masters degree (that you already have in Nepal), then may be not. But maybe, as maverick was saying, depending upon the school. However, if you are asking if Ph.D. programs here take credit transfers, then yes, they certainly do. However, it depends on the school and the level of similarity between your masters degree and Ph.D. program here. If they are fairly similar, I've heard that they might take upto 15 credits transfer (from an MS grad student in my department who just go into Cornell Ph.D. program). If your MS is different than the Ph.D., then the hours might decrease upto the level of school's discretion. Hope this helps! What program are you applying into? Or did you already get in? Or are you already here?

Sorry for the delayed response. I am in the US, looking for a Grad School to begin this fall. I have already completed my masters in Nepal. Before applying, I wanted to understand if there is any possibility of being able to transfer credits, if I am going to do the masters again. As far as I know, it is not equivalent to the US MS/MBA. So, for someone already holding a masters from Nepal, what are the options? Thanks everyone.
