Guys
I'm working on CPT right now and my H-1B is pending its final decision. I have all the paystubs (while working on CPT) from my current company. Assuming that my H-1B is approved before Oct can I transfer the approved H-1B to another company in Oct without even working on this H-1B for some time for my current company?
Thanks.

Yes you can. You must have your approval notice.

I did that last year. I was working at a company who filed my H1B. It got approved and would start from OCT 1st. I was in my OPT. I got a new job and they transferred my H1B even when it hadn't started.

Cowboys, what were the documents needed for the transfer? I have the receipt number and I can check the status online but I'm not sure if I'll get the approval notice in mail. Is the receipt number enough for the transfer?

I know it for sure,
If your H1B is stil pending you can transfer it right away, but if it comes in the meantime you have to wait till you get 2 paystubs.

Last year, when I did my transfer. I had the approval notice with me. All I did was interview with the new company and when everything was negotiated, I told my old company that I was leaving. I sent my documents to the lawyer (same documents that you need when you are applying for the first time plus my approval notice). I transferred in September. My OPT was valid till January but my H1B would start from OCT 1st. If any of this is not making any sense to you send me an email.

Cowboy is right.
You do not need I-797 C but, a notice that has your receipt number so that the new company lawyer has your case details.
All the best.

If I don't get the I-797C (I guess thats the approval notice) , can I use the online approval notice printed out from the USCIS case status checking website?

No you cant,
I also did not had that one, so had to be with my previous company for 3 month till I got 2 paystubs. USCIS sends a note regarding your case have been received you can put that one, if you want to transfer before you get the approval.
Cowboy, I think this is what Mohan8 should do, what you say??

When I did my transfer, I had the approval notice. You should be getting the approval notice anytime now. If your OPT is valid even after October 1, I don't think you need the pay stubs. I think thats what my lawyer said if I am not mistaken. I think you should talk with the lawyer of the company you are going to transfer to just to make sure.
