It has been the traditional norm of India to claim that Buddha was born in India. This new piece of news is a propaganda to create hype in the media. Some of the Indians envy the rich tradition of Nepal. They cannot see tourists flying to Kathmandu. They cannot accept Nepal glorifying the tradition of Buddha. Subhas Chandra Pattanayak has made another news with the same old stories which desperately sought to place the birthplace of Buddha in India. His opening sentences simple mock the whole world which believes that Gautam Buddha was born in Kapilvastu, Nepal. Bibas, No one will dare to speak against India now. Let them claim budhas birth place. They used to claim Nepal as their own. This goes back to Nehrus rule, he used to claim that Indias northern border is the Himalayas (including Nepal) during his visits to Nepal. Nehru did not consider Nepal as an independent state. Indians now have the same attitude. Indian encroachment of the Nepali land is a big problem in border areas. A published account of one of the chief justices (sorry I do not remember the name) land was usurped, even though he has the lalpurja and his land was in Nepal, India moved the demarcation line and he lost his land. This is only the tip of the iceberg. It is sad but they can claim what ever they want there is no one to speak against them, no one dares to..

Come on guys, when Buddha was born, Lumbini was not under the Gorkha Kingdom anyway, therefore, Suddhodhan was one of the King of Hindusthan. Due to this fact, many Indian sites and claimed that Buddha was born in India. In this regard, I have no objection if anybody says Buddha was born in India. Of course, we can say that the Birthplace is now in Nepal, which is not debatable at all. Don't be fool with Indian claims-- when I was travelling frequently aboard in South-East Asia , and South America, many people told me Mt. Everest is in India. If you are good in observing the notebook that we buy in Kathmandu (of course made in India) has no Nepal in South Asia or world map. What can you do man? Whoever claims what facts remain facts. Therefore, I think in my opinion, we shouldn't waste our energy, or?

rajankhanal, It is imperative that you let the truth prevail. Flashing controversial arguments in the media which are of sentimental values is no good in extending the mutual respect required between these two countries owing to cultural ties. Therefore, India should stop such false propaganda. Freedom of speech also means responsibility to write sensibly without hurting others. News like this just invite further controversy. People get hot and we can't control it.

SS47k, Saying sounds interesting , what are u implying i didn't understand and which ever way u are implying that i have sound and real good anwers for ur thoughts.:)even if it is meant satirical in my hindu topics. coming back to the topic buddha was born in nepal?or lumbini?which one.At that time period.the nepal existed in the boundaries of ktm valley.the lumbini was ruled by shakya dynasty.i don't think i need to teach u history and geography u are smart enough. See u can say ,buddha was born in asia, buddha was born in indian subcontinent as well as buddha was born in lumbini which is in present nepal. bharat existed during time of ashoka but he didn't rule lumbini area! See my fren this is language and people mould it whichever they like.when they say buddha was born in india.that means he was born in indian subcontinent and westerers believe it.long time ago i had good argument about that with my history teacher in US.

Imi, Since you said india have higher percent of buddhist that was my answer, i found 0.7% buddhist in india where as 11% buddhist in nepal..and i even wrote population in the other thread.. during that time there was no india, or nepal, so according to the present context where buddha is born lies in nepal. So simply he is born in nepal, no matter how india cries, doesnt matter as it is proven fact.If lumbini goes in india then it is diffrent thing.... And IMI i will tell you please calm down..you are in such a stage where you can see everything from different angle...

SS47k, thanks for the statistics.i know.:)Man i am cool and don't worry i am not going to die of heart attack.hahahah.i am thinking very clamly and request u to be so too. here is what i have to say:have you ever heard people saying "jesus was born in israel" people say jesus was born in Bethlehem similarly buddha was born in lumbini not in Nepal. did u get my point.Again i said u can say buddha was born in lumbini which is in present day Nepal is not same as saying buddha was born in nepal. one highlevel note: my fren"what's in name" this is not simple statement . i think u know the answer because i am stating u idealogy from all the threads i have read u wrote.Unless u want to contradict u own standing. second note: this world is driven by power ,survival of the fittest.King was powerful he did whatever he liked .SPA is powerful they are making decisions whether its right or wrong. Now eventually maoist will come and they will make decisions whatever they like. What i am trying to say is India is far more powerful than Nepal .People listens to powerful country or people. Also , muslims believe all others are infidel .So what do we do and what americans should so .bang their heads in the wall because just they say so.are u getting me. Still returns ,i say u are incorrect.Politically, and Scentifically cause that time there were boundaries. Then Nepal's boundary was ktm valley.that time countries existed.Scientifically also as so u didn't understand the defination of proof.:)

Guys, Its not about which country has highest percentage of buddhists. So, just forget that argument. If we go down to south east asian nations, they have larger number of Buddhists. Similarly China, Mongolia, North/South Korea , Malaysia, Myanmar,Singapore, Srilanka, Thailand etc have a lot higher percentage of Buddhists compared to India and Nepal. Some of them have higher than 90% of the population following Buddhism. This does not relate to the birthplace of Buddha.

STILLRETURNS, say u are incorrect.Politically, and Scentifically cause that time there were boundaries. Then Nepal's boundary was ktm valley.that time countries existed.Scientifically also as so u didn't understand the defination of proof.:) saying there is more number of muslims in INDIA named mohumad does that mean mohamed was born in india?so that example of name is plain silly.i don't know whether u were joking or serious.Proof is something that is initiated by theories and later to support ur theory with evidence and example.proof always goes with evidence.I don't deny there is evidence of of buddha was born in lumbini which is in present day Nepal but i deny that buddha was born in nepal.Just like i deny Jesus was born in Israel.

Let's riot for it, get the tyres, burn em, vandalize whatever, pick up someone whom we can. Get the mob on fire, let them break hell loose like tail on fire Hanuman. What have we given to Buddha, to deserve to make him Nepali, or we his followers. If teritorial right was the issue, let's start with Susta....
