Not a very big fan of them but two of their songs, "So far away" and "Money for nothing" are among my favorite songs.

Sultan Of Swing ..Bagus !!!

Yeah!!! They are great. Sultan of Swings is still a fav. eh.... Alchemy - Live is still the one of the fav. Albums.... babai, damn, what an awesome drums they play in that Alchemy live album... esp. the "Sultan of Swings" song.. eh... Guitar ko ta kurai nagarum... not a great fond of Mr. Knopfler when he picks up the mic tho... but he is one of the Guitar Gods. eh.. no doubt about that. :D

I am listening to Dire Striats now. Thanks to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with my numerous trip I was able to purchase many complete album of various bands.

Oh I loved em! I don't think his (Mark Knopfler) solo acts were on par with his Dire S stuffs.

Count me in. The Sultan one is one of the best of their numbers. It's for me, at least.

My uncle was a big fan of Dire Straits. Because of him, I too became their fan. This was back in 80's. Perhaps because I listened to them way too much, now, I feel blah.... Thank God dire straits are no more.

Sultan Of Swing... Mark Knopler, in this song showcases his unique style of guitar playing.

Brothers in Arms and Romeo & Juliet..are my 2 favorite ones. Back in I. Sc. days in College I, along with some friends, spent time listening to Dire Straits and Bob Dylan and going over every lyrics...instead of studying Physics, Chemistry....

Few years later in college in the US...I met this Pakistani student...who declared "There is Allah and there is Mark Knopfler."

And going to Mark Knopfler concert was one of the best experience of my life.

Btw, Mark Knopfler's last album was called Shangri-La.

And it is Dire Straits and NOT "DIRE STRIATS" as the header says.....

I know there is typo error.Many others before you did not make any comment regarding the misspelling, I am sure they had realized it was typo error. Anyway, thank you for pointing out.
