Should Nepal support to Bhutanese Regugees or Not?

-------------------------- News ----------------------------------

Indian police- Bhutanese refugees clash at Nepal-India border

Hundreds of Bhutanese refugees and Indian police clashed at Mechi bridge along the Nepal-India border on Wednesday as Indian authorities tried to prevent the refugees entering from their territory on the way to Bhutan.

According to reports received from eastern town of Kakarbhitta, over 300 Bhutanese refugees ? half of them women-- from Beldangi refugee camp in eastern district of Jhapa were stopped by the Indian authorities as they tried to march into the Indian territory on their way to their homeland?Bhutan.

The refugees then clashed with police and there were exchange of brickbats for a while, eyewitnesses said. An Indian journalist was injured during the skirmishes.

Indian police have arrested Bhutanese rights activist S. B. Subba after the clashes.

The refugees then staged sit-in at the Mechi bridge in protest of the Indian government?s decision not to allow them to return Bhutan through its territory. Interestingly, all the refugees had returned Nepal via Indian territory after they were forced out of their own country by the Bhutanese authorities over a decade ago.

The latest attempt by the refugees ? coordinated by Bhutan-Gorkha National Liberation Front-- to return to their homeland came as Bhutanese King, Jigme Singye Wangchuk, is currently visiting New Delhi.

Indian authorities have prevented similar peaceful march of Bhutanese refugees to their homeland via Indian territory in the past also. Experts on international law say India should provide access to Bhutanese refugees if they want to return to their homeland.

India has refused to exert its influence upon the Dragon kingdom saying that the issue should be resolved by its two Himalayan neighbours. Nepal and Bhutan have held over a dozen rounds of ministerial level bilateral talks to resolve the refugee stalemate but to no avail.

Over 100,000 Bhutanese refugees are languishing in the seven UNHCR-maintained refugee camps in eastern Nepal for the last 15 years. nepalnews.com by Aug 03 05

To: khaobaadi,

These are Nepalese people. Most of them born in Bhutan and some of them migrated from Nepal for searching job and earn money.

Most of them good Nepalese and only some of them master mind political self-interest. Some of them have bad selfishness.

I hope that we must support in good way or positive way.

If you do not support them as a (friends and family), they will lose their rights and freedom. When they lost, someway or another way we will lose respect, dignity and value, too.

It is like someone kicking and punching your friend and family members, and you ignoring and having fun on your way.

Note: Remember 20 years ago, Indian raped, looted, killed and kick out Nepalese people from Assam, which place were historically Nepal.

It would be the great if you educate yourself a little bit about Nepal.

THese people should overthrow the monarch of Bhutan by the help of Maoists so that they can return to their homeland with no fear from the Bhutan's king. He is just like Gyanedra of Nepal.

This is not a question to ask.
Of course, Nepal and Nepali should support them. This is not only for them being ethnic Nepalese but it is our humanitarian responsibilitytoo . This (fuc)king Jigme kicked them out for no reason. Bhutani Nepali have longer history than his own dynasty and they have worked there hard to make Bhutan livable.
And it is so sad that every Nepali government is diplomatically unsuccessful till now in this case. Bhutan has always got upper hand with Indian help. Lets do what we can as this is going to be a refugee problem forgotten by world.

Do not forget or mis-calculate.

It is full of living illusion which is called life. Oneday everybody will trun into dust. Science called it carbon. Different people have different view and opinion. There should not be problem. That is called freedom of opinion or freedom of speech.

But.... key matter is who are you? Analyze this way..... it is simple and easy.

Never ever let down or betery your friend. If you do, it cost you too... sooner or later.... it is just matter of time. That is how life runs.

Samething... definately within Bhutanese refugees.... there is good people, innoceant people, criminals and crooks, too. But a reason of some nepalese crooks, we must let other Nepalese down infront of eyes. We can take care few Nepalese crook who live in Nepalese Refugees.

Bhutan action and Indian dirty politics is a straight insult, rob and crime.

Bhutanese must kick out corrupt, criminal and bad Nepalese....

That is O.K. because they have to protect their country. They have Rights, too.

But Bhutanese must not kick out all of them. Most of them are ordinary Nepalese, birth by Bhutanese and Innoceant people.

They should not shoot all in the street because they do not like Nepalese political crooks in their land. That is wrong.

The question is,
1. Why India doesn't allow them to go back to Bhutan or India as they entered to Nepal through India itself?
2. Why Indian police crosses Mechi river to catch the refugee's leaders?

:)

Maybe India is scared that the regugees might reside along their territory.

Either way, even if they reach the Bhutan border, they will not be allowed to enter and that is a sad thing.

This dilemma should be avoided with dialogue, much of which have been conducted in the past, but Nepal should carry on pressing the Bhutanese government not to rule it out.

I believe that Bhutanese authorities should put themselves on the shoes of these poor people and they will see that they are genuine Bhutanese who have been serving Bhutan and love Bhutan to the dearest.

It is a sad thing that the resortment of such illegitimate actions was surpassed behind an invalid argument about those refugess being Nepalese because they migrated several ? years ago.

If we look back digging deep along the history of mankind, humans have been migrating from places to places looking for shelter and food. We all either belong to one country or none of us belong to either one. I did not expect such arguments from a Buddhist nation.

Bhutan should owe up to its mistake in front of whole of the International Community who are watching with deep concerns these developments, at a time when their new constitution are being established and they should take back their own people, restoring their pride and honor.

This is the time that the followers of Buddhism will once again stamp their voice of wisdom for the world to see that the peace will prevail. That will be the right action for a Buddhist peaceloving nation of 'thunder dragon'.

Unfortunately there is no ONE STANDARD. A weak always suffer. That is how it always goes in case of Nepal. We are weak and anyone can bully us. Believe it or not, Bhutan is fki-ng bullying us with Indian blessing.

Do you think India cares about democracy in Nepa? No way. If so, why dont they pressure Bhutan? We are weak because we are loser. No matter how educated we are, we are still dumb. We always look for escape goat. Multi party democracy for 15 yrs. Now Constituent Assembly or Republic for the next 15 years. Whats after that? Why dont we realize that we need a good leaders and need to fight for that first. That's why say...We are Losers. I am just not saying it. Look at our country. We are almost a failed state. And that reflects on all nepali.

The best solution would be:

If Bhutanese government accept and take authentic Bhutanese citizens.

If Nepal accept and take care all authentic Nepalese citizens.

If India accept and take care all authentic Indian citizens.

Rest, all political crooks must be punished.

Finally, there will be no refugee problem which has been for almost a decade.
