My name is Pawan ( age 30). Me and my family ( wife and a daughter ) recieved DV Visa from kathmandu some three months ago. Since I don't have any relatives in US , I am finding very hard where to stay in US and how. I know no one. I do have experience of lving aboard as I have continously lived for four years in Russia while studing. That's why I won't feel new to be out of home. I am desparately seeking the support of Nepalese individuals and respective organization to help me to enter US in this regards. My visa expires in December. I appreciate your earlier response. my email address is tileume@yahoo.com Regards Pawan

Pawan Ji, I don't know that in which state you would like to go to live. I think you might want to go to either Texas (Dallas), Virginia, California, Colorado, Boston or New York because for job availability. Also you can contact personnels of different Nepalese associations for help. These are few useful sites with their email addresses. http://www.anfs-usa.org/contact-us.htm http://www.ansca.org/ansca_email.html http://www.stedwards.edu/instres/nptx/page2.htm

I strongly recommend you to come by yourself, get settled in, learn how things work in America. When you feel comfortable enough have your family join you. Go to the main page on Sajha.com, at the bottom are links to sites that belong to Nepalese groups in various States. Email the president of each group and ask for feedback. Good luck!

I thinkl when u get a DV lottery, it is required that you have to enter USA within 6 months after the visa is issued. So, ur wife and daughter have to come along with u before december if thats the expiration month. You don't have much time left so, Here is what you can do: -Pick a state (lets say Boston) -Give add in sajha.com under classified that you need a room for rent in boston, i am sure someone will respond Come to boston, if u like boston then stay if not u can always move to the another state....job availability, public transportation is great in boston..... make sure to bring enough money to support urself/family for atleast a month or two...cuz it might be hard to find a job right away..... good luck and have a safe journey..

Prakash_Pawan, Help me understand here better , u already got dv -visa and u looking for place to stay, well as it mentions on your dv-program u can stay any where in united states but most likely(unless you change the adress at the entry port) your green card will arrive at the address you have filled out as your sponsor. And applying for ssn must be much easier on that same state. As for you visa getting expired , after u have recieved all the documents form embassy you can always apply for extension to leave nepal , i am not 100% sure but i belive they will extend for a year more easily, if u want to extend for more then that you should be able to convince the counselor in us embassy in nepal. perosnally i would recomend you to be at the adress of your sponsor or nearby for a month or two coz it basically takes 30 days for you to recieve your green card and as for ssn it depends on how soon you apply but you should be recieving that in 30 days time itself if you don;t you can contact the ss dept , as they will tell u to do so . All da best..

Hello, I am highly encouraged with the expanded advice from all of you. Each and every your word is valuable to me. Information i recieved today, i couldn't recieve till yesterday. In DV 2004, it is not complusary to have legal sponser, any eligible person can write a simple welcome letter for the applicant , if he wants to come his place. So not neccessary to go the inviting person. Welcome letter was given by a person with the address of MaryLand. I prefer and intend to go Wasington or New York. I need someone who can help me for living arragement. Pawan
