Hello there friends,

I'm planning to travel Nepal on 25 of April 2024 with AP-TPS, returning On the June 21 2024.
My Nepali passport will expire on April 29,2024.

Can I travel to Nepal or do I need to renew my passport in DC? My plan is to renew/make new passport from KTM before returning to USA. Let me know if anyone have similar issue or have renewed/made new passport in DC.

I want to answer those who are planning to make a trip to Nepal on AP-TPS-- I did travel already on AP and there was no problem at all. You can easily travel and can come back to USA as long as you have valid AP.

Your reply will be highly appreciated.

Thank you ,

Hello Ujl Sathi,

Yes, bit of a headache. They should have done something for the west coast nepalese society for the passport renewal service.

I agree with you dost ,poor country but Rich-corrupted Politicians .

@funguy7,

You'll be allowed to board the plane given that you are traveling to your home country (Nepal) and the passport won't expire at the time of arrival (at TIA KTM).

Three months/ Six months validity of passport doesn't apply if your connecting flight to Nepal during transit is within 24 hours and you plan to stay at international transit area of the airport.

Folks here don't have a real experience and try to scare you. Be confident, and don't worry about getting a travel document. You will be better off with your own passport. International flights rarely get cancelled, even so you will still make it.

Good morning sathi Furke,

I was thinking the same that I can fly to Nepal showing expiring(29th April) passport and Nepali Naagrikta with out any problem.

Yes, It looks like people here don't have similar experience and some of them just want to scare me .I will be staying with in international transit area of the airport.

Sathi- I really appreciate your positivity and it feels good . Guys please comment if you know or have any experience regarding this.

Thank you.

6 months validity is for foreign passports only. Departing US you will not have any issues.
Coming back you will need new passport and go through secondary due to tps status on arrivals. Safe travels.

Hello Maxpayne sathi,

Good to hear from you. Have you ever been to similar situation or know anyone who have had similar issues?

It looks like I can travel to Nepal even with expiry passport and yes I need to have valid passport on the way back to USA .Since I'm in TPS-AP(EXPIRY DATE JUNE 24.2024) & I will land USA on 22 of the June 2024 they will most likely take me to immigration room for questions.

Thank you.

@funguy7
My AP expires June 30, 2024. Why does your expire June 24, 2024? Can you please check your AP again and let me know when it expires?
I am planning to come back on June 28, 2024 two days before my AP expires. I have already travelled using the same AP four months back. Hope, I can use the same AP that already has parole stamp. My passport expires April 2025 and I plan on renewing it when in Nepal. Will I be able to renew with 11 months remaining? My current passport is MRP.

Hello sathi- Furke,

Not sure why mine is June 30,2024? I will check and let you know .Don't you think its risky to get back on 28th of June? I have similar issues and will be here at LA before 3 days of AP expiration date .

I think passport can be renewed before 6 months so it should be ok.

How many times did you travel with AP?

I JUST CALLED COUPLE OF FRIENDS TO DISCUSS ON MY TRAVEL AND ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE BRO DONT GO ITS RISKY AS YOUR PP IS ALMOT EXPIRED.
I'm CONFUSED.
I WILL BE BACK WITH AP EXPIRATION DATE.

Thank you.

@funguy7,
I have travelled several times using AP in the past at least once a year. I used to receive two copies of AP. But last time, received only one as USCIS changed the name of the parole document from I-512L to I-512T. I have already used it once, planning on using the same AP again.
My TPS re-registration still has not approved. I have created a service request. Hopefully getting it approved next week. Then I will also apply for another AP before I leave. If i receive new AP, I plan on extending my stay till July. If I don't receive new AP on time, i will be back on June 28. My POE is also LAX and officers are chill here. No questions asked, parole stamped.

May I ask when did you apply for your AP and when was it approved?

Also when your friends say ITS RISKY. What risk are they talking about? Risk that you won't be able to go to Nepal or you won't be allowed back to USA? The former is not a real risk. If that becomes true you only lose the outbound ticket value. For me losing $500-$600 is not a risk when the reward is much higher. You need to filter what people say.

Hello Furke,

I have been out since morning I will let you know soon about expiry date on my AP. My friends were saying I will not be able to travel to Nepal with this passport but I think I will go . I have only used one time but now i will travel twice or more with the AP ( I will apply soon)

Can we stay more than 3 months in Nepal If AP is valid? My AP WAS APPROVED LAST YEAR AFTER 6 MONTHS OF WAITING.

IT WASW ON Jan/2023.

Yes, LAX IS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER PORT OF ENTRY-LOL.
Thank you.

They started issuing new I -512T from the beginning of 2023 with the pic . I received mine last yr in the month of february and stayed in nepal for 3 months .
Dont listen to your friends and stop googling . Everyone is aware of AP these days and hundreds of thousand of latinos from south America travel back home using this AP. After i landed in arizona they took my AP inside and paroled it . Some people say they will take you to secondary inspection but the officer just took my AP and he came back in 2 mins .
Have. fun gaichhhh.

funguy,

Although i haven't stayed more than 3 months in a single entry, you should be able to do so as long as AP is unexpired upon return to the United States. Nowhere in the AP is written about 90 day rule, nor in I-131.
I would still not exceed more than 180 days (in extreme 1 year) if possible just like permanent residents.

@Fukre Sathi,

I will stay more than 3 months next time but this time I will be back 0n 18th of June 2024 as expiration date on my AP IS JUNE 20,2024(I JUST CHECK IT).

I just called Embassy today they told me to make travel document as my passport is expiring(April 29) with in a month but I will just go with out travel document as I'm planning to renew in Kathmandu and I have Nepali Naagrikata with me.

We should try not to stay more than 180 days and I agree with you Furke.

Thank you.
