If I were you I would definitely go with Java or .Net developer and start doing some online programming course. Just don't wait until you graduate.

If you are graduating with a BS in Software Engineering, I'd definitely recommend JAVA over QA. QA is much simpler and folks with a non-technical background can also try and accomplish. It's not really a "girly thing" though as Sojoketo suggested.
Please don't wait until you graduate, start looking for options ahead of May 2016.

Good luck!

@mangale BA would be much more easier for non IT people rather than QA. Due to the introduction of Automated Testing Frameworks, QA would be hard for non technical person as you have to write scripts and code. Nowadays QA is not just testing the functionality of an application, it involves load balance testing, automated testing, data integrity standards, security audits, and other major technical areas.

Thank you nature_freak
any free online training courses you recommend? I want to learn myself for now and may be start going to consultancy soon. Also do they file greencard right away or you have to go through all that H1 B? I called one of the consultancy and he told me have to apply for h1b and work for 2 years and then they file for greencard.

Go for Java or .Net. Both of them have good market as of now and pay rate for both is great too. QA is good too when you feel like not taking too much loads on head but these days QA jobs are difficult to find and their pay rate is also low. If you would like to go for Automation in QA which requires programming, than i would say go for QA/QTP.

Cheers.
welcome to IT, Its fun world.

Go for Java if your are good at in coding. It will be long term good career, easier to find a job and better payment than QA.
