I don't think investing on lands in the cities is a good idea. The price of land in Kathmandu is expensive than that in Houston, USA. LMAO. If you really want to invest on land, you should focus on the remote sides of the country. Since, people living and working abroad are sending lots of money back home, and the condition of transportation is improving, I would recommend you to buy lands near your villages. Nowadays, people in the villages don't give away their extra cucumber to their neighbor that grows in thier backyard. They rather sell it for Rs 50 in the market nearby.

I have one place in mind if you really want to invest. That is: Bardibas. The new Banepa Bardibas highway is almost complete- that connects Kathmandu and Tarai. This highway is much shorter and convinient than the old highway. The good thing about Bardibas is that- it is still a VDC(I'm not pretty sure, now). If you go to tarai, you will see how Janakpur is dying and Bardibas is developing.

How to bring money to the USA? If you are a student, you can bring money easily in the USA hoina ra since you need money to study.

Buying land is good, specially these days. But you have to think how to manage the land  you bought?
If hulligans came to know that the land belongs to a foreign citizen  then it will be difficult to manage. Again If you plan to sell and some one wants to buy it in cheap price they might blackmail you.

So Planning is important. You should buy a land where you can manage it.
One way of managing the land is buying it and renting out the land  for commercial activity and collecting  the rent. For this you need to buy a land with the possibility of  commercial acitivities like "Motar garaz"  "farm"  etc etc

bringing money to the states is a very big hassle unless you are US citizen. as a citizen of the US you can open bank account in $ with showing proof of legitimate source of income in $. the limit to carry cash per person is 10k so probably one would have to send it through bank transfer or "hundi" system-which is not so reliable especially with 50k.

i am pretty sure that in case of a GC holder, it would be almost impoossible to bring 50k without the option of bank transfer or hundi.

 it guy

correction:

UNLIMITED money can be brought to the US but if the money exceeds 10k then one must fill up a form and declare the currency at the port of entry.

However, if you fly from Nepal to the US but have transit in other countries, you should also check the rules for customs where you will transit enroute to the US.

biwash_prawashi, thanks for the info. But the link that you posted is the US law. Our problem is the Nepalese law which doesnt allow money to go out of country ( as i heard).

As someone said, buying a land in Kathmandu is more expensive than in US. TRUE. I wonder sometimes, with political turmoil, no city planning, forget about the basic needs like water, sanitation, electricity, transportation facilities, and on top of that, lack of security, how so called metro city named Kathmandu and its land is so expensive. I see one ad in nagariknews today, 13 lakhs per ana near pepsicola. Are you kidding ? It's not a good idea to invest in real state business in Kathmandu, atleast not at this time. Investment needs return. Your return will be abduction, black-mailing, threatening, land-kabza by so called Maoist and what else!
My suggestion is to buy GOLD, The good news is its price is going down after 'marriage season' , mansir is over, as today's market shows the less demand for gold. So why not gold, huh? THINK.

I wonder why all Nepalese ppl in general have to buy land, buy house or start building house etc. I mean even if ppl are living here( who wants to live here), they will to have in Nepal too. There are so many options if we talk about investment. 😦

This is the most ridiculous statement i hear about land in Kathmandu

"Land in Nepal is more expensive than the Land in US"

Land in Manhatten is way more expensive than land in New Road, Land in Queens and Brooklyn is way more expensive than Baneshwor, Land in Manasas VA is way more expensive than Budanilkantha. Are you just comparing the New Road Land with the Land price in some country side in Texas and calling it more expensive? Do a relative comparison and ask yourself that.

If you have money, buy now. Once the market starts picking up, you won't be able to afford it anymore.
