Investing in stocks, as opposed to Trading them, has a distinct advantage of avoiding trading expenses. The parable - a penny saved is a penny gained - applies here.

Here are some of my picks for the next few years. Get ready to feel bored now. Ready? There you go:

????

What are some of your own picks and why?

See you all (and myself too) at the the Millionaires' Club soon.

Disclaimer : THE RISK OF TRADING CAN BE SUBSTANTIAL AND EACH INVESTOR AND/OR TRADER MUST CONSIDER WHETHER THIS IS A SUITABLE INVESTMENT. PAST PERFORMANCE IS NOT NECESSARILY INDICATIVE OF FUTURE RESULTS.

None of these are penny stocks. Your thoughts are appreciated on these.

NBG - National Bank of Greece
- Greece economy play. Trying to get out from bail out program. More hope of ECB stimulus. Beaten down too badly in 2013 and 2014. Very less chance that this would drop any further as there are no many big sellers but many big buyer waiting to jump in.
Risk: opposition threatening to pull out from bailout if they win in election in few months (but its opposition, they always rant until they are in power), no ECB stimulus (which is unlikely)

YRCW - YRC Worldwide (Trucking company holdings)
- Benefit from US economy. They were once $9 billion revenue. Were lost for many years, and fianlly some positive earnings. All the issues (teamsters deal, debt pushed to 2019) were sorted out earlier this year. All mess cleaned up. Renewing the fleets. Now they only need revenue. All other trucking company doing really well. If US economy is really picking in faster pace they are the one likely boosting their revenue.
Risk: a company that had dodged the bankruptcy earlier this year.

HPJ High Power International (Chinese battery company)
- Micro cap. Just 100$ million mkt cap but its 150$ million revenue.
- Trying to enter into Electric Vehicle market (batteries).
- Lithium ion batteries. Analyst has price target 15$, 12% and 24$ when current PPS is 5.30$. Hige potential of Lithium Ion batteries.
- support of Chinese Government. China is in war with pollution.
- trying to woo american investors.
- very low float, insider holds more than 41% (I think, need to check).
Risk: Chinese company (Hey, but it is is traded through nasdaq).
- Already 200% up in 2014.

I am not much into turnaround stories. If positive story is supported by actual numbers then a stock would be attractive. Then when the good news becomes public, the stock will pop like crazy. For example, Mr. Buffett, who is extremely positive on America's economic future, touts Bank of America's (BAC) huge retail customer base and its bright future. But he only holds BAC preferred stocks.

BTW, the SEC defines penny stocks as ones with quotes below $5.

OAS, MPO AA

OAS and MPO are oil exploration comps. They have hedged a lot of oil for 2015 at higher price. While AA is STILL benefiting from cheap jet fuel..

Any oil companies that are hedged at a higher price for 2015 and 2016...will be at least double or triple from current price...assuming that oil price will go up from current price of $50-$60 per barrel.

IBM is a beaten up mega cap..that's down significantly...and they're buying back shares...this is good for long term investing...

MOMO, chinese version of Tinder, already made money on IPO day. Ali baba is the main backer.

AAPL: Iphone 6 sales Thru the roof, ER on Jan 26, right now at 110, will slide further to shake the weak hands, then all the way to 145.

VA With oil at historic lows, this will give goid returns, up 40% since IPO

Gpro. Let it slide to 40, then buy

Hal, Down from 70 at 37, has stopped sliding, even after oil has continued to fall, probably has hit bottom now, will go 80 when oil starts rising

I am a beginner in this whole trading and buying. Can you guys recommend me some tutorials or some links to learn the ABCs of investing in stocks. The only thing I have done so far is opened up an account in Ameritrade.

Looser,

If you want to trade ( buy and sell with a quick profit with a very short holding period), the following are the threads you might wanna follow:

Did you guys hear that, US fracking industry is just a short-term phenomenon which might lose its traction by the end of the decade? I also read somewhere that fracking companies are going to make money only if the oil price is above a certain minimum level. With lower oil prices, the fracking companies might be in trouble now. Then add the environment-related overheads - law suits, clean up expenses, and the compliance related charges.

IBM, the Big Blue has an impressive track record even though it snubbed Steve Jobs back in the day.

Anyone in here thinks that the Recreation Vehicles (RV) business is in for a massive explosion because of the lower oil prices and baby boomer hitting retirement roads?
