Hello! inspired by the SQL DBA thread posted on Sajha recently that brought together a platoon of Shajaites SQL DBAs, I am starting this thread to see if there are any frequent (or not- so-frequent) sajha visitors working as Oracle DBAs or pursuing employment in the field. Please write somthing about yourself, including the general physical area of work (e.g. The North East USA) and the number of years in the game, plus if any of you would not feel hasseled if one or many of us pester you for advice etc. About Me. I am looking for an Oracle DBA position in the East Coast (I am currently in NY) , I have successfully completed the OCA and recently am trying to see if I can find a workaround to taking the OCP, I am also planning on getting the RHCE and have started efforts in the field. I would be more than grateful if any of you would be able to offer any real time problem(s) that appear during Performance Tuning, Backup and Recovery and Day to Day DBA acts and most importantly technical interview tips would be appreciated. Please contact me for more information, and please X10 let me know if your company is hiring (Wishful thinking never hurt noone ) ! Thanks, Khalisisi

Guys,
I believe OCA is the first step to Oracle DBA career. I have some degree knowledge in Oracle Administration. I would like to move forward with Oracle. Can you guys shed me lights on OCA. Is it that difficult to get certification in OCA? Have some recommendation on how to prepare and how long to prepare to be fit for OCA certification?
Will appreciate your response and may be helpful for others who want to pursue career in Oracle DBA.

OCA is not hard at all if you study the dumps just to pass the test, BUT If you want to learn something (and pass the test) and are not necessarily looking to score a 100% on the test (which does not mean much anyway) DO NOT READ THE DUMPS. Try learning the material through practice (download oracle and get on with it, it's free so make use of it) and through study guide. I have some material on the same, let me know and I will send you the ebooks (post your email on this thread).

One Question how do you create a tablespace, a user and tables inside it and populate the tables in one shot... I know writing a script might be the best thing to do and I have wrote a script also... (a text file that I am trying to execute using SQL> start /path/filename.txt but it does not seem to work.. does anybody know how to take care of this, I bet you that this must be a very simple problem in the world of Oracle. Please Help !
