can you make an understanding with your employer they give you chance to look for another job before they announce the fire. You can switch the employer and transfer H1B if you are able to find one.

If you think that you are going to get fired, it is time to start looking for a new job. When you find one who is willing to sponsor your H1B, they can just transfer it from your current company. Your current company doesn't have to do anything. It is just like transferring after October. I am assuming here that you were approved this year. I transferred my H1B last year before October 1st, when my H1B would start. You should be ok if you have another job lined up. Good Luck

As per my understanding, until u are not in H1 status that is from Oct 2008, you cannot transfer your H1 at all, just having a approval does not mean that you are on H1 immediately, to transfer H1 it is necessary that you are on H1 status, otherwise it cannot be done. Suppose if you get fired before Oct 2008, the company that sponsored you H1 should inform USCIS about the cancellation, but if the company is understandable they will let you know about it and will not try to create problem in you status, so they can wait till Oct and once you have found other company willing to sponsor the transfer then just transfer it. But I am not sure about the transfer of H1 before being on the status. Just do your research or call USCIS, consult some lawyers before making the decision, as a small loophole can mess up everything.

As per my "experience", you can transfer even before your H1B starts. I did it last year. If you find another job. you will be ok.
