Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar has vowed to make the home administration efficient and corruption-free. Organising a press meet at his office Sunday, DPM Gachchhadar promised to become an ideal home minister to help improve Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai's clean image. “I will try to make efficient and corruption-free home administration and support Bhattarai's mission,” said Gachhadar. A US diplomatic cable leaked recently by Wikileaks has revealed that influential Nepali politicians including Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) were actively lobbying for either Airbus or Boeing while making decision to purchase two new aircraft for the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The cables mentioned that Gachchhadar even went on to offer bribe to a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member to approve the deal.

Kathmandu: Swiss accounts of three senior Nepalese ministers, including home minister Khum Bahadur Khadka, have been frozen for their suspected involvement in illegal gold and weapons trade and drug trafficking in the Gulf region, a leading local vernacular daily reported.
'Naya Sadak' quoting high-level Interpol sources said that besides Khadka, accounts of minister for water resources Vijaya Gachhedar and minister for information and communication Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta were frozen. Bureau Report.
