The reason is, those consulting companies are not able to file because they have to prove they have clients to support their employees for three years. I've been hearing a lot of news about H1B extension rejection these days. This will cettainly reduce the number of applicants until they find their workaround.

I am applying for job with my master's degree (under STEM) since July 08, there were communications and interviews and thus hopes to get hired until the next 2-3 months. But now it's like a huge traffic jam, no response at all, cool as ice all around. Some sites like resume rabbit, craigslist and other less popular sites are offering jobs for sales, body massage and unrelated fields. It's no doubt some are just trying to get our phone, email, personal history or even to collect data for their business.
