Police have shot dead Kaushal Sahani alias Mr. John, the chief of underground armed outfit Terai Army.

Sahani along with his bodyguard were shot dead by police in Raghunathpur area of Rautahat district on Friday night, say reports.

Sahani has been accused of masterminding several explosions in the capital and elsewhere in the country in the past. nepalnews.com sd Aug 30 08

Is it the beginning of th end of Terai Violence?  Until now, police were sitting quiet against people like Kaushak, Jay Krishna Goit, Jwala singh .. etc .. now one of them is gone ... will this incident scare the rest of Terai violent outfits?

While I don't mourn the death of some of the worst figures in Nepali history, I am concerned by the extra judicial killing. Those guys should have been brought to court, rather than gunned down!

I agree with you if there was a law and order in Nepal, but current situatin in Nepal it is right way to treat criminals. First shoot then talk.

Good Job Nepal Police !!!!

I second that, Arnico. Although Nepal’s legal system remains untested (for past 12 years) for political-criminal cases and many of us might have our doubts about its workability, we have to begin to test it somewhere anyway.
