I am little confuse with US saving account system. I am a student F-1 visa. Need to save couple of dollars. What options are availabe for saving and CD accounts? Which bank is the best and what are the required documents ? Please help me out.

Some banks may require high minimum balance and they charge monthly fee and withdrawal fee. Check with some 'credit unions' in your area. I have an account with Envison Credit Union and I am happy with it.

I recently inquired few banks. they all ask for green card or citizenship. I have a checking account in bank of amrerica. but there saving rates are not that great.

Very easy-- IngDirect.... and the interest you earn per year is around 4.5-5% The best deal you can get. This is true because they have very few physical location and that saves them a whole lot. For CDs, ST Bonds, and such... it's a lafada for intl. students because they need all the details.

Go with washington mutual if there is any in your area. U get 4.5% interest on saving account. U have to open checking account too but its too easy.

Bara nepal ji,
I work in the bank and we have systematic Saving account which require just $50 to open up and that is the minimum you have to keep it up.The interest earned is 3.45% .For this you do not require the Checking & Savings account. If you need some help just let me know
