Well, there are brainwashed people and there are others too. Your generalization is flawed and smacks of a contemptuous and elitist mindset that is in part responsible for the sorry state of affairs in the country. Sure, those vandalizing public property share their share of the blame, but in order to get these people off the streets, Nepal's elites need to learn to treat them and their aspirations with respect. People can forgive someone depriving them of this set of rights or that set of rights, but they will never forgive an affront to their dignity. Before you expect others to change, perhaps you need to change your own thinking. Monkeys, eh?

Now Captain sir ..i have respect for you but you do sometime act like Nice God :P.Don't think i do not understand the whats going on. You think you are the only logistic , down to earth and think from the people perspective.. I need to change ? hmmm.. i know my position very well.Remember when 1 years ago these people were fighting for loktantra i told people need to change? Did people change in year ? did people change in 230 years? Problem not the system problem is people. So, i guess it you can only make them change.i do not help to call who act like monkey a monkey. And being emotional giving me don't play with diginity ..i just can laugh at them ..i don't recommend that sort of thing but looks like very communist cheap words.i believe in action by so called leaders who uses these words. So what is the track ..where is the track at least we should know the track right ????Organizaing big meetings in AMERICA and going to listen to same old $hit of so called intellectuals and people who understand reality is BS.What did they do when they were in power??still fighting ..and yayayaya i know it is part of process but seems like this is never ending process for Nepal. and You position i understand ..Always above us:P

Granted democracy is not perfect but what's the alternative? Loktantra is probably the only thing between the unworkable extremes of direct monarchy and communism. I agree we have a flawed system and such flaws should be pointed out and discussed, but I have yet to see someone propose a sensible alternative to democracy that does not include the impractical options of Maoism and monarchical rule. And IMI, I am not the one calling others names. Neither do I claim to be "the only logistic , down to earth and think from the people perspective.." person. That is your inference not mine. " So what is the track ..where is the track at least we should know the track right ????" Right track is getting holding CA elections - which might have been postponed but not canceled mind you - and writing up a new constitution and holding elections. It has been a slow process and I share some of the frustration but every major force in the country - including moderate Monarchists - have agreed that this is the way forward. Organizaing big meetings in AMERICA and going to listen to same old $hit of so called intellectuals and people who understand reality is BS." I know of Mathura Shrestha from a previous life. And I have no hesitations in saying he demonstrates a far better understanding of politics than you and does not go around calling other names. So if I can listen to you, why not him? If you don't want to go to those meeting then don't go. I am not going either. But they do provide a forum for those interested. "What did they do when they were in power??still fighting ..and yayayaya i know it is part of process but seems like this is never ending process for Nepal. " Yes, there is conflict but I'll take conflict in the cabinet or parliament over conflict in the streets (which has diminished although it is not out completely). Democracies function when conflict - which is a generally a good thing and inevitable in every society - happens in the right forum. On that account, we have come a long way. And yes you are right, there is a process and it's gonna be a while. " You position i understand ..Always above us:P " Nope, if I thought that, I'd be the one going around calling others names. I'd say you have been doing a far better job on that account by the utter contempt you display for those you dont agree with you - especially the Maoists.

I do not agree with Maoist because they do not believe in what you and i believe in that is DEMOCRACY!!! and in the name of loktantra, if they can win the hearts thats fine but intimidation i cannot tolerate. People who do not display democracy and believe in democracy how can they lead democracy in Nepal.???? Your optimist and i am not pessimist Optimism doesn't mean it will be reality especially in case of Nepal.I am not going around calling name those who are maoist are maoist..whats the big deal?????

IMI - Calling Maoists Maoists is different from calling people monkeys. But there is a bigger point there about name calling and contempt for others which is the real point to be thinking about. Ha ha ha Aznsawty ... oops, big diff between the two :P But seriously, whoever tried to do such a thing, did not succeed. Thats important. I don't think you can get away with such a thing in the faint semblance of a democracy we have. ############### Anyways, I dint come here to defend the government but simply to ask people to look at the political process more objectively even if, especially if, they disagreed with me. That's really all.

Yes, it is a flawed system that needs correction. Human rights abuses by the state (ie police) have gone down but still occur. I am not arguing we have a perfect democracy. Maoist abuses have gone down too but continue at what is still a fairly alarming rate. I cant claim the country is heaven because of democracy but it certainly isn't altogether hell either.

Captain Saab, Till now my prediction didn't went wrong at least in Nepalese politics :D and i had said 1 year ago there will be no CA but at least it is delayed now..but when its gonna happen no one knows. i hope there is one:) Yes , flawed system needs correction by people who will be correcting are full of flaws. It is not all together hell..hmmm.. when did u last time went to Nepal? ya granted there is no war going on from outside and what you see but trust me when i say this there is one more civil war cooked under the surface and congratulations is well deserved by Maoist (actors ) who fooled Nepalese so easily. Monarchy is there to stay. And you should again thanks Maoist for that.I am not royalist for saying this .I had predicted before 8 party alliance that king is stupid and soon he is going to get is ass kicked .After 3-4 months.SPAM made alliance and the king rule toppled and As much as i know u don't like King .I would also like him to go out peacefully but by the people not by 8 parties. It will be still a joke in the name of loktantra if they declare republic now!!! which now commie friends are doing all sorts of Natak for it!!

IMI - I dont think postponing the CA polls will be catastrophic in any way. That might actually add credibility rather than taking it away from the process. In the meantime, we may just have to agree to disagree about some things. Thanks for the riveting conversation. Hope you have a good one. :) Mukurdom - You have my vote! :) But seriously, I agree the choices on the field are not the greatest. The need of the hour is a viable alternative political party. Some thought Deuba might be able to provide that but he didnt get far. Others still hope the UML will abandon its communist platform and become a centrist party but that looks like a pipe dream at this point. But to paraphrase Rumsfeld, I guess you go to the elections with the parties you have and not the parties you want :) Oh well ...
