Eight years ago during the group stages of 1999 world cup india was posed in a similar situation as now. In their last group match against srilanka, they needed a huge victory to qualify for the super sixes. It was in this match Sourav Ganguly made his career best of 183 and Rahul dravid made 145 while india's total score from their 50 overs was 373 and Srilanka could only manage 216. With these two century performance, india defeated srilanka and went on to the super sixes.

Eight years after we have a similar situation. The only difference is that just a win is enough for india. They don't need a higher margin victory tomorrow to qualify for the Super eights.

Will the history repeat again or is it the Srilankans' turn to return favor? Dying to know the result.

As far a cricket is concerned , I am an Indian fan, and would want to see India wining tomorrow.....i hope India wins tomorrow, and cant wait to see at least one century and three half centuries from the Indian Innings.

In the 99 world cup, as far as I can remember, India had to beat England to qualify to the last round..which they did. But, I personally want Sri Lanka to beat India. I am frustrated with the way cricket is treated in Indai and Pakistan. Its just a game, its not worth more than anyone's life!! Look at waht Pakistani's mad obsession with the game has done!
So, I hope SriLanka beat India and the Indian media and indian fans have a reality check.

And also, since this thread is about 99 WC. That for me, is by far the best cricket world cup..There was no favorite going into the world cup, so everyone had equal chances..
