IT guys can connect to your computer and control it by using Windows NetMeeting or similar other softwares. But you have to give your IP address to them and allow them to control your desktop by clicking on appropriate buttons.

Depends on what you do at your work.Do you work at main-frame or client pcs? each and evey clicks of your mouse can be monitored, every single character you write can be audited. IT people who have been granted the authority to secure the comp-uting environment in any company can audit each and every moves of other's enterprisewide. Nothing you do in your work is hiddn from the eyes of administrator,be careful. Dont watch porn at the minimum, otherwise you are fine. Make sure you log off every time you go to lunch unless you are maintaining main frame system.

There are several different ways that IT guys (Network/System administrator) can monitor your activities remotely. They do not even have to ask you your IP or click on any button. What are you so afraid of?

I think he is not asking how its done but is it right to do that thing. Well when you are at work they are paying you and your time belongs to the office and the company has the right to know how you are using the company's paid time and resources. Nobody cares if you do little bit of browsing here and there. IT guys just dont go spying others computers as they have other things to do. They do it when the manager wants to know what an employee is doing. There is no privacy in the office if you are using the companys time and resources to do personal things. If the IT is spying on you then there is only one thing to think and that is if you are not doing your job properly then your manager is going to talk to you very soon
