sure use linux as an operating system.
use ip forwarding and learn about it.
create a dns server internal to your network and then start changing IP. but it is limited to C class only. u will be restricted because external world only knows you by the IP of your service provider. which can be dynamic or static.

Who is your Internet provider? Is your protocol PPPoE or DHCP? Some provider get you a new IP address everytime you log in, some has dynamic or static IP address. You may wanna contact you Internet provider regarding this issue if you are using Windows or Mac operating system. I don't know about Linux. Good luck.

Why would you want to change your Internal IP lakh_ma_ek?
I'd make my private network all Static, so that I would be able to designate open service ports on specific machines and have granular control over them.

If it's about the Default Gateway IP, or the IP that you use to communicate with the external world, then I have a sad news... we can't apply for, or own any IP .. they're all gone~~ which means they can be leased from the ISPs. If I sit infront of my PC and try switching between different 'Interent IPs', tough luck to me!! However, since the generic DSL/Cable packages provide dynamic IPs, turning off the modem for about half hour usually ends up grabbing another set of octets (new IP) when it gets fired up the next time.

Proxies would meet your requirement upto an extent though!

Your purpose for a static IP is not clear though. If it is for browsing purposes only, visit this link.

In case of cable ISP, they MAY NOT allow you to put static IP at your router or PC. They simply does not allow them to register. You should get it from their dhcp.
