Serves them right. This is what happens when you depend too much on a single player that never is.

This is what I mean by the Portuguese team. They are so good at it, aren't they? Wow! what a sham, what a sham, Scolary might as well have told them a lesson on how to pursuade referees on giving red cards to players, happily for him, Portuguese are born like that. haha! poor Rooney. Now he is going to be treated so badly by the England press. Another hero turned zero in a bitter experience with the Protuguese. Let me tell you something folks, the referee did not give Rooney red card because of his foul, because, the referee did not see the incident that took place, but the Portuguese made a big deal out of it, and he was only giving a free kick. But Rooney came on and slightly pushed Cristiano Ronaldo. That was what the referee saw and gave him a red card. Unbelievable. This made everybody think that Rooney stepped on the player and got Red card. Did you see Ronaldo after Rooney got a card. He was blinking one eye to straight away suggest, look what I have done. Thats how you do it. Well done fella. How old are you now? hmm..20..hmm.21..you have got a world of for left on you for another 10+ years to show the world what you are capable of, making another hero to a goddam zero. How many more to follow? Sir Alex must have been quiet a frenzy watching his two players go hand and hand and poor Rooney became a victim of another Portuguese extravaganza. What a fiasco!

Portugese keeper was exceptional. Always diving in the right direction. My man of the match is C. Ronaldo for following reasons: 1. Good play throughout the game 2. Cleverly snaring Rooney for a red card (if he was not pushed by Rooney, Rooney would probably have got only yellow. He invited rooney to push him) 3. Being the most confident of all the penalty takers

Mahisasur, Please man! heard enough! he is a faker and he has made both Holland and England victim of some of his outstanding faking ability rather then stand up and play football. So keep it down, the hooligans are coming for ya..!

Orange boy, there is no way referee could have missed Rooney stampin coz that happened right under his nose. But referee also knew that the 'stampee' (whoever it was) was exaggerating a bit. Then Ronaldo cleverly snared Rooney by saying something to make him more aggressive. That was Rooney's sad but predicted and much-deserved end. All credits to the Portugese. THe English press will make a mince meat out of Erricson and Rooney. That much is certain.

Orange boy In all fairness, England didn't deserve to be even in thequarters, they were lucky all along and finally their luck ran out. As dissapointed I was yesterday for the exit of talented team like Argentina, I am happy today another over-achieving and lucky team didn't go to Semis. Did Portugal deserve to go further, I dunno, Argentina and Netherlands deserved better. But certainly not England, overhyped bunch of sissies, that's what you get for playing one striker up front and pinnin all hopes in rooney, who is another overhyped player. Thank god he will never get rid of his temper.

I agree, fair play is certainly not possible with the Portuguese. You are celebrating at the other end and showing the world your true face, why can't CR go to Rooney and say sorry. I mean common man! these guys are supposedly professional and they play in the same team. You gotta have respect for each other. I agree there is some angryness going on when you are playing for your country rather than football, but to that extent man. You have go to give some respect for the fella that plays next to you, atlteast when the match is over and you are no longer an opponent. so please man, take a lesson from Rooney rather than bang him in front of everyone like that.

Fair enough, Orange boy, I agree that Ronaldo may be a faker. I am not his big fan anyway. But today, you have to admit that he did play welll. And if you remember the penalty, he was the most confident one. Just imagine how hard it must have been for him to take such a crucial shot. I was giving credit him for that. About Rooney, lets hope he keeps his cool in days ahead. He must have learned the most valuable lesson in his life today, in teh most painful way.

the match to me was really boring. like the ABC commentator said, england was playing better with 10 men. portugal deserves the win- they're the underdogs and with luck on their side, they've reached the semis. of course, ricardo was the hero of the team. when it comes to penalties, its all about the goalie. but what a pathetic shootout for both teams. it goes on to prove that even good teams are not accurate shooters. england players have been hyped all the time but fail to deliver. for some reason, england always seems to be eliminated in the quarters. before the match i was sure england would win the match. who knows maybe in the next game, brazil will head home!

England has never won in the PSO in the world cup and the misfortune continues for them, having being defeated by Germany in '90, Argentina in '98 and Portugal in '06.
