So. Anybody watched the Oscars? LOL... I watched bits and pieces... So Jamie Foxx won for the best Actor. LOL... I was hoping for Leonardo De Caprio, hmmm... but can't deny the fact that Jamie nailed the character of Ray Charles in Ray... I was just not ready to take him as an actor yet.. LOL... (Still got "HELD UP" movie on my mind).. eh.. He was awesome as Ray. :D Actress, hmmm, Hillary Swank all the way... no wonder about "Million Dollar Baby" which also won best movie and director (Clint Eastwood -- he made something that others would think twice about making)... Those who haven't watched the movie yet, here is the hint... :D "Million Dollar Baby" is more than just a Boxing movie.. eh... Don't wanna reveal anything more... ah... (As if anyone cared :D) Morgan Freeman... ahh, finally. Seems like Martin Scorsese and Leonardo De Caprio have to wait forever aha... (Leo was awesome in "what's eating Gilbert Grape" and Scorsese, ahh, my all time fav, "Taxi Driver" with De Niro)... Cate Blanchette... finally, she won too.. :D She deserved it... She walked, talked, looked just like Katherine Hepburn... aha... Who else...? hmmm... dunno, m sleepy... laterzzzzz... coffee anyone? Chirs Rock RULEDDDDDDDDD... (So did Beyonce... she can really sing... ahh))>... awesome.. :D

Why Why Suntali maai aba. :D Martin Scorsese, hmmm, he doesn't make kind of movies he used to make. Gangs of NY was not as much inspiring and the AviaTor was not as great either (Although looks of the movie and performances by the actors were awesome --- hence, bunch of oscars in the early round :D). I really liked Leonardo playing Howard Hughes better than Jamie playing Ray. :) Where Jamie walked, talked, spoke, acted just like Ray Charles (so did Cate Blanchette), Leo created his own Howard Hughes, which walked, talked differently than the real one. :P Who cares, re kyaa, I still think "Closer" was the best movie of 2004 and "Sideways" sucked (I've seen lots of those kinda movies in HBO)... Why "Finding Neverland" didn't win???? Don't know :P Probably, "Finding N" was not as bold enough as "Million $ BB" :P When I watched "The Phantom of the Opera", I thought this movie was an epic, this was going to win the best movie award... ehehe... Hillary Swank won, aha!! But the most delightful winning was Charlie Kauffman... aha!! That dude finally made it to the oscar for the best original screenplay for "the Eternal blah blah"... wow..! Wow!!! La yetti... :)

Scorcese got robbed. Well, at least he can now share the dubious honor with Robert Altman and Alfred Hitchcock of not winning the Oscar despite being nominated five times. Chris Rock was aaiiight. I am sure George Bush and Jude Law hate his guts. Particularly of Jude Law, why was Rock so hard on him? I wish comedians can be amusing without abusing. Making jokes at other people's expense just does not sit well with me. How many people noticed Robin Williams' protest? He entered the stage with his mout taped, apparently to point out the restrictions put on by the administration. He was funny when he talked about Viagra and Clint Eastwood. Talking about Clint, the dude is genius. Can you believe he finished that movie in 37 days? Though now he comes up with more sophisticated cinema, I still love his spaghetti westerns. Good Bad and Ugly is my sentimental favorite. The other day I was reading somewhere that Aishwarya Rai might be presenting an award. I was like "whaaaaat." She's good... among Indians... but she ain't that good. Saw her in David Letterman show, she came off as someone with chip on the shoulder very much trying to prove the superiority of Indian way of life. Anyway, I digress. Did she present any award? I missed few sections in the middle, so maybe she did show up then. Among the audience, there were some notable lack of presence. I did not see Tom Cruise, Russel Crowe, Nicole Kidman, Robert Deniro, Robert Redford, Harrison Ford, etc. Perhaps they were not there because they were not nominated. But I thought all the A-list actors would be present at Academey Awards. I have not seen any of the movies that were mentioned at the Oscars. Can't wait for them to come to dvd. Going to the theater these days is way too expensive. I heard Million Dollar Baby has a controversial ending. PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL IT.

Here's another thought that came to my mind while watching Oscars last night. I am awed by the thanks they give to American Armed Forces in functions such as that of yesterday where the most attendees do lean towards left and hate Bush. And I feel the tinge of jealousy. Why? We, as Nepalis, do not really love or respect Nepal Army, at least not as much or not in all quarters. Perhaps because the army is seen more of the king's than that of Nepali citizens. A friend of mine who is an officer in Nepal Army once complained to me. How come this is a war between the army and maobadis? Should this not be a war between the insurgents and Nepalis, of whom army is a part? Why are there three parties in this conflict - maobadi, army and aam janata? Valid point, and perhaps a valid answer to that could be that army has not endeared itself to Nepali janata. It is still seen like a private sector company lead by the elites of Kathmandu with royal family at the top.
