As a Dolphins fan, it was sad news. I respect William's decision but the timing was not right. If he had given his decision only a week before, we could have gotten good stud Eddie George or an-average- Antowan Smith. Dolphinsý management gambled with Ricky and they paid the price.
98ý Heisman winner, Ricky William, I remember him as a guy who guaranteed victory over my beloved Huskers and by winning in 96 and spoiled Huskers three-peat dream. I never liked the guy and did not follow him as much during his stay in New Orleans Saints. I started liking the RB after he joined the Dolphins. He is a great player and gave 2 fantastic seasons for Dolphins. He had awesome first season with Miami, he lead the league with 1853 yds and ran another 1300 more yds last season. We all knew Ricky was different from normalancy and he was obsessed with marijuana. In 2001, he was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, a condition contributing to his extreme shyness. He did not like the limelight and often conducted the interviews with his helmet on.
I am sure his addiction to marijuana has something to do with his decision as he was going to lose pay equivalent of four games and was going to be actively monitored for the drugs abuse. May be that was too much for him. Whereever he decides to go, I wish him the best and I hope he will come back with Dolphins soon after he finds inner peace with himself after his Asia tour.
