@shiva_linga Considering the other ethnic groups hardly make up considerable population (Thakalis for instance are 12,000 and Marwadis are what less than < 20,000, Rajputs and Kayasthas are around ~50,000, Banias and Punjabis even less) - it is clear that population-proportion wise Newars and Bahuns are undoubtedly the richest groups of Nepal. Quite remarkable nonetheless because quite a chunk of Bahuns still live in remote villages in Far West where it is very difficult to make ends meet, and quite a few certain lower sections of Newar castes specially in Valley outskirts like the Podes, Chyames, Kulus, Dhobis, Kapalis, etc. have always been socially oppressed and economically weak.

what kinda fuked up analysis is that, according to u Kusunda must be the richest since they are hardly 100. this is not mean or median analysis where u divide aggregate income divided by population and and declare the income of people, u probably thinking gdp per capita, here to make sense - ethnic per capita . These conclusion are derived income pattern among 12000 thakalis (or marwaris) individually not the average.

it is done on the basis of average of total assets per family. that is what the uploader told me. though low in number, the marwaris , kayasthas and high caste newars(in lesser extent) literally control nepali economy, so i think thakalis in number 1 surprised me.all those business houses are run by marwaris and each of them is at least 100 million worth. i dont think bahuns or even newars can match them in absolute numbers though they are better represented in bureaucracy and politics.

@shiva_linga What I simply meant was that this comparison of ethnic groups based on absolute numbers is correct but misleading. This is the same concept used by the same people people who always blame Bahuns for eating up all the government posts, blaming Bahuns for all evils of the world, etc. When in fact if we take the sheer population size, there will be more Bahuns who live under poverty rate than the Thakalis or Marwadis combined. It paints a picture that is misleading and doesn't help solve problems.
