Hello I am curious about opening a website which will have fairly low traffic. This will be basically a personal website with few products to sell with links to big websites like Ebay. I don't have much idea about the whole process, like design, webhosting, getting domain name, different kinds of fee, etc. Could any Web guru give me more detail in layman terms.

1. Register a domain name. Visit godadday.com and check for the domain name. You will also see different options with different fees and features over there.
2. Google "free web template download" to find suitable web templates that you like. Download the file which will contains html, css. And work after wards.

@Ramas.... I learned web design myself. My experience was very fun. I started learning basic html code in the beginning. Later, I started using software like Dreamweaver, Fireworks CS5, Macromedia Flash. You can learn all these stuff in YouTube for free. Also, using Fireworks CS5 can make look your website so neat and stylish. I just love the software. I recommend you also use these software for webdesign.

If you use self-hosted method you will have the tension of going through the entire process of web hosting, domain registration, web design, at least some coding, maintenance etc which will eat so much of your time that you will barely have time left to put out content for your audience unless a dedicated expert is helping you. And if money transactions take place it is not recommended to use shared-hosting services from likes of Go Daddy. Shared-hosting services are utterly flimsy when it comes to web security particularly when it comes to protecting costumer info.

Wordpress, business version, will get rid of many of these tensions of web hosting, domain registration and web design. It probably is the friendliest to SEO and has tons of very useful features for a whole range of customizations including for low-budget eCommerce stuffs.
