This real story starts at 2048 B.S. when Nepali Congress was ruling Nepal with their majority in Nepal parliament and Nepal Rastriya Sabha. Almost 2/3rd seats were won by Nepali Congress party in the election which was held recently. Mr. Girija Prasad Koirala in his state visit to India signed a treaty with India about couple of rivers of Nepal without the acknowledge of Nepal's other political party, Nepali Press, Nepali Public as well King Birendra. He gave full rights to India to use the water of those river. If some Nepali people in the border would use couple of hundred gallon water to irrigate their fields, it would be criminal act for Indian Government and Nepalese current government silently supported that. IN ANOTHER WORDS, OUR PRIME MINISTER AND HIS PARTY SOLD OUR RIVERS TO INDIA. I THINK YOU ALL WONDER HOW COME GOVINDA RAJ JOSHI, KHUM BAHADUR KHADAKA AND OTHER NEPALI CONGRESS LEADERS HAD BILLIONS OF NEPALESE CERRENCY SITTING IN THE BANKS ALL OVER THE WORLD. OUR PRIME MINISTER GIRIJA'S DAUGHTER "MISS. SUJATA KOIRALA" HAS BELEIVED TO BE AT LEAST 20 ARAB NEPALESE CURRENCY IN VARIOUS INIDAN BANKS INCLUDING SWISS BANK.BELEIVE IT OR NOT!!!!!!!!!!llETS NOT TALK ABOUT PRIME MINISTER HIMSELF!!!!!! I WONT BE SURPRIZED IF HE HAS MORE MONEY THAN LALI PRASAD YADAV. LET ME UNLOCK THE MYSTERY OF THE SECRETS OF THOSE LEADERS GETTING RICH!!! oUR DEAR PRIME MINISTER SOLD RIVERS TO INDIA 15 YEARS BACK. THAT RIVER IS SUPPOSED TO GENERATE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IF NOT TRILLION OF DOLLARS WORTH OF ELECTRICITY FOR NEXT 200-300 YEARS AS WELL ANOTHER TRILLIONS OF DOLLAR WORTH OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS CAN BE PRODUCED FOR NEXT 200-300 YEARS BY IRRIGATING THE WATER FROM THAT RIVER. Because of the corrupt Leader in Nepali Congress, Nepal couldnot benefit from those river. India does not pays a penny as a tax or royalty for using Nepalese rivers. Because they paid large chunk of money to Girija and his friends in Nepali congress to make a deal or in another word to buy these rivers. THE FIGURE MIGHT LOOK TOO BIG AND UNBELEIVEBALE.BUT THAT IS THE TRUTH GUYS. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT 10-12 YEARS USE OF THAT RIVER, THE ONE GIRIJA AND OTHER nEPALI CONGRESS LEADERS SOLD TO INDIA......WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE USE OF THAT RIVER FOR ANOTHER 200-300 YEARS. I WONDER HOE MUCH WOULD INDIA BENEFIT FROM THOSE RIVERS EEVNTHOUGH NEPAL DID NOT GOT A PENNY!!!!!!

Most Corrupt NC Leaders: 1. Khum Bdr 2. Govinda R. Joshi 3. Chiranjivi Wagle 4. Jaya Prakash Gupta 5. Sujata Koriala (misused Girija's power, and looted RNAC) 6. Sher Bahadur (this guy can be bribed pretty easily, but he doesn't take the money himself, he takes it for the party, very shrewd unlike the others on the top of the list) 7. Ram Sharan Mahat- he sold Harisiddi for pennies to NB Group and rewareded himself with 20 laks worth of shares. 8. Mahesh Acharya- this dude sold Nepal Tea Estate and received 50 lakhs. 9. Bijay Gacchadar Most Corrupt UML 1. Bamdev 2. Keshav Staphit (although this dude is trying to be a Maoist now, he and Bamdev made quite a pact smuggling gold through the airport and leasing the Bus Park bulit by the Japanese for mere 50 lakhs per year to Dr. Upendra Mahato) 3. Bhim Rawal (don't know what he did, but I think he did get into trouble) 4. Modnath Prashit (he was one of the poorest of them, but was able to build a big house he called "gauthaliko gud") 5. JN Khanal 6. KP Oli Most Corrupt RPP 1. Rabindra N. Sharma, when he was Finance Minister, there was an invisible tender for the control of the airport. The highest group of smuggling ring would get the tender and pay this dude. Other smugglers paid for the service to this group. His sons are supposed to have invested in 5 star hotels in India. 2. Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani- his wife ran the Ghus collection agency. 3. Buddhiman Tamang- ask his son, he received Rs 50,000 a day while he was home minister, so he always wanted to be a home minister. Remember the sqabble with Surya Bdr Thapa and Kamal Thapa. 4. Kamal Thapa- he would empty the national coffer for whatever needed. 5. Pashupati Sumsher Rana- he would not take the ghush for himself, but everytime you ask him to do something, he would ask- how much are you going to give to the party. 6. Other rest of the RPP were petty thiefs, who would sell their diplomatic passport or take Fortum. 1. King Gyanendra and the Royal Family-- increased their own salary from 11 crore to 67 crore and bought himself a couple of multi-million dollar cars while the rest of Nepal was bleeding hungrily. Maoists: They tortured everyone who did not pay up. Be it the policemen who had gone abroad on training and received a once in a life time opportunity to make some money (the police, the army funds take out a huge chunk 1st), or workers who sweated to make meager wages in foreign land, they never stopped to think. In my opinion the most corrupt could be listed as follows (i have kept maoist at the end, since they never joined the government, but if you count the money they collected with intimidation and force, they could very well be behind King G or NC) 1. King G. 2. NC 3. RPP 4. UML 5. Maoists

Taat - Very interesting comments there. Just curious as the what the source of your information is. It is an empirical analysis. Maybe you are right and maybe you are not. I think the argument would be much more effective if presented with numbers, facts and their sources. My 2 cents. That said, down with corruption - who ever the perpetrators may be. Sayami - What about the non Baje/Bajais ... where shall we send them? :)

Captain Haddock, I have some very reliable sources to verify most of the accusations I have made. I do belive one thing though, Girija, Khum Bdr or the rest of the corrupts did not make in Arabs amount of rupees as claimed by some, but the big ones did make in few crores. If a businessman gives a 10 lakh ghush to a politician, he usually claims he paid 50 lakhs, so that others don't get encouraged (on the other hand this does create bigger demands by the politician). But more than the amount, the corruption from top-down created a culture that is so difficult to contain even after the Janaandolan II. I also believe one thing though, there are more politcians (in all parties, NC, UML or RPP) who are not corrupt than that are corrupt, but these non-corrupt politcians could never point fingers or fight against their own friends, they just watched as it happened and kept their mouth shut, which is actually a bigger crime. Hopefully with "New Nepal", the rotten ones will be taken out, and I hope this will not be another wishful thought for us.

Taat - I am with you on the general thrust of your argument and share your hopes about the future. No suprise why courrption exists in a society like ours and much has been discussed about it on other thread on Sajha and other places too. But if I may, for someone like you who seems fairly objective, I still feel your analysis and rankings could have been backed with hard data and in the absense of which, it provides little more than amusement value. I hope you or some one out there with enough interest in the subject will actually do a hard fact and figures study to get as much of the truth out as is possible in a society and culture like ours. Till then I am willing to accept there is corruption in our society and will support punishment of courrupt individuals who ever they may be but I cannot condemn an entire institution or party as corrupt let alone attempt to rank them.

One of the reason Nepal could not hold contitutional election in time is again because of Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress has realized that they cannot win enough seat if they go to election in this situation. Lot os its memebers has criticized their leaders because of their direct and indirect involvement in corruption. They literally threaten them that they were not going to support those old corrupted leaders in this incoming election. So Nepali Congress leader conspire to postpond the election so that they can reach compormise point with its active members.

We all know, Nepal has the most corrupt politicians, administrators and the likes...So, the blame goes to everyone...Having said that, Congress should take the majority of the blame because they are the ones that started this entire mess ! Incompetent and Corrupt...Period !

rahulbhai-- I think Girija should take the blame. He was the one who went to SAARC and said "I" risked my 60 year political career to bring the "terrorist" to this stage. Mr. Shree Teen Girija wanted to take all the credit for Janaandola II. But, when it comes to his incompetence, everyone should share "equal" blame. Why did Mr. Girija wait 9 months before he brought in the Maoist to the government, everyone was ready long ways before. Now if the election does not happen for some reason in Kattik, 2064, you have to blame Girija and Nepali Congress. If you look at the current scenario, Girija and NC has gotten everything they have wanted, be it the ministry portfolio or the 2nd in command, if Girija had wanted he could have made it possible for the CA election on time. That said, I also belive that if Maoist had created the atmosphere for themselves to join the government earlier, if UML had not bickered so much, maybe the elections could have happened in time. But the biggest blame goes to GIRIJA and the party for his leadership in this process. You can't just take the credit and not the blame.

Ya Mr. Taat, You are right.. Girija and Nepali Congress should take the reponsibilty of failure in Nepal. Because they were the one ruled Baluwatar and SinghaDurbar for morst of the time. I guess more than 90%. Ani Sale ghusiya girija, ramro kaam ko chai sabai credit lina khojne...like i riked my 60 yrs. political carrear.....bhanera..ani afno+family+party ko naramro kaam lai chai dhaak chop garne...Sale lai Saddam ko style ma fansi dinu parchha..... I think Girija himself is involved to conspire against constituteional election..Other wise why did he wait 9 mnths to make a governement.. And once again he proved that he encourages corruption in Nepal by appointing corrupt leaders as his minister.

Another example of organised corruption in Nepali Congress which is supported by powerful leaders of Nepali Congress: Girija's daughter Sujata Koirala is the person behind the smuggling of White Chandan from Nepal. When the drivers and local contractor were questioned by Nepalese authorities, they told that they had a blessing from Sujata Koirala to cut trees of White Chandan and smuggle it out of country. That was the reason why local police officer deny to act to those smugglers when local villagers complaint about illegal smuggling of white chandan of Nepal. When special police from Kathmandu raided those smugglers, they got calls from Sujata Koirala in kathmandu to immediately release those smugglers. Since reporters were already in the scene, they had hard time to make decision weather to release sumgglers or not. On the condition of anomity, one official said they they were threatened to be transferred to terai if they did not release those white chandan and smugglers immediately. SOURCE: NEPAL1 TV NEWS.
