Something to ask :-) Study ---------------- - How is student life in Aus? -How r the chances of getting RA n TA in Graduation? (while continuuing) - Can student make good/decent life even after paying tuition fee? - How is the pay? - Off campus jobs? (and of course pay) - Does Aus also have 5 years Ph D course like US (Masters+ Ph D)? - Can student apply for work permit while studying? - Generally how many hours r students allowed to work? (is it 20 hrs a week?) After Study ---------- -How is job market? - I heard every state has their own rules, can we apply jobs to any state we want? - After completion of study, if visa expires, how much time students get to find job? (Like in Canada its one year) Immigration ------- -Are students eligible to apply? - Generally, how long does it take for final decision? - Can we directly apply for citizenship after getting PR - How is Australain life? Life ------- -I heard weather is great, is that really so? - Do they know anything more except CRICKET? - Which cities r the best to live (jobs and life)? - How big is Nepalese community? Finally, How r the Ausies chicks :-)

Been to most countries.Nothing like Australia.I am currently in US but my heart is in AUS. Its bit hard at first but very easy once you get thru that period.People are nice generally.Only 8 hours work/day and pay is good. I was making 25/hour when I was in sydney as IT pro. When I was studying, I was driving CAB making about 1500/ week. Some Nepali are teaching at 150/Hour in colleges. Its safe ,less rasicm and if you are in AusAID scholarship you can basicly buy a new house in nepal by the time you finish your studies. PR is there and easy to get, now one has 2 study only 2 years and can get PR. Multiple visa while studying, can take their spouse and children even when studying is another big thing. Here in US you get green card and still cannot bring your spouse. Nice beach everywhere and even Nepalse guy can get AUSSIE GRILS. For those who cannot get AUSSIE girl can easily get Japanese, Korean ,indonesian . cannot get Auss. Public transport is fantastic. And yes lasto boy Most Aussie (Pure aussie) are taller than us. I am 5'11 and i used to be almost smaller in my class.

Photo haru tasum na ta. Hami pani herum Australia ma basney Nepali haru ko life. From what has been posted here, sounds like Australia is the most attractive place in the world, especially for us Nepalis. So, let's see what it is like there. Please do NOT post tourist photos. Same old Sydney Opera House ra Harbour Bridge ra Uluru(Ayers Rock) ko photo haru herera wakkai bhayo. Those you can get anywhere. The photos that give a peak of life in Australia (for Nepalis, especially) is what I am referring to.

By the way Melbourne is less expensive and cool place to live. Ever heard "Four seasons in one day" of crowded house .The song is written about melbourne.Melbourne has amazing weather.Melbournehosts most of AUSTRALIA'S SPORTING EVENTS . Nicole kidman, Cate blanchet,Natlie Imburlia, Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, Russel crowe are all AUSTRALIAN. There are other tens of Australain in Hollywood. AC/DC, Silverchair,CROWDED HOUSE,Kylie minogue are all Australain bands and artist . Like hollywood there are tens of other world famous bands from Australia. Most Bands and artist go to AUS for tour. From Michael jackson to Britney spears, Rock bands like Pearl jam, u2 to RHCP, Heavy metal like metallica to Pantera,Death metal bands like TOOL to Abyuss,Punk band like RANCID to Green day and Offspring , you name it all.I dont listen to POP so I watched most rock and metal Bands and artist from USA whiel I was in AUS. Most Hollwood movies are Screened in Australia, some are screened bit late while some premiers on the same day as US. Most TV shows are same too, but shown late(After few weeksin AUS. Almost everthing is same as US , only cities and freeways are smaller , less people and Dollar value is less buuuuuuuuuuuuuut cooolllllllll to live and spend you life.

Esctasy bro thanks for cool and great info, I wd like to get some info again. I was making 25/hour when I was in sydney as IT pro . When I was studying, I was driving CAB making about 1500/ week. that means 6,000 Dollars a month??? (My God that is huge) is that after tax?? --------- Some Nepali are teaching at 150/Hour in colleges. Is that per week? --------- PR is there and easy to get, now one has 2 study only 2 years and can get PR. Only study? No work experience? Any subject (I mean Masters from University)?

lovenepalalways, Saving money is all up to you. You definately will be able to save some if you know how to do it. I was not able to save money coz i was young +travelled around the world . I figure having an ausaid scholarship was a good medium to get tourist visa anywhere in the world. If you want to see the world do it now (during summer and winter vacation ) You will have money even during those break(without working) why waste your time doing nothing hoina? humm about work, yes student can work for 20h/week (legally) . Its totally upto you if you want to go beyond that 20 h limit. I don't know how does Uni Vic Pays as i went to Uni Melb. I was paid upto A$ 28 (sometimes). If you are good in Statistic or any other subject , try tutoring .It pays you good. In melbourne minimum wage is $ 15 per hour (or around that). So you'll be getting around $ 15- 18 if you work in Uni library , administration office or computer labs. i hope i answered your question. have a great stay in Melbourne. ---ming

mimangsu and esctasy, Thank you very much for your kind reposes. Mimangsu, I seriously consider your suggestion that I should see the world when I will be in AusAID shloarship. I have heard that AusAID scholars have a different visa than regular student. Is that true? esctasy, its great to know that you were driving CAB making about 1500/ week. Is that when you were working 20/hrs per week? As per me, I am computer engineering and did MBA from an America university in Thailand. Under AUSAID scholarship, I am going for masters in Business – Enterprise resource planning systems – SAP module. What do you guys suggest to me? Where should I look for work with this qualification. I am not sure if I should stick with university library as it has no connection to my future job. I want to work somewhere where I can learn something and can add in my CV which helps in my future job. I am planning for SIEMENS, Melbourne as the subject i.e. SAP, which I am going for has a good scope in Siemens around the globe. Do you think it’s crazy to think of this organization at time when I am just student or it is possible to get some part time jobs there? Regarding the PR, is it like I cannot apply for PR for complete 2 yrs after completion of my study or I can apply but cannot work in Australia for that time period. Also how long will a PR are grated to anyone who has studied in Australia? I mean is there additional points for those who have studied in Australia? tyehi_moro_ashish, thanks for the cool pics. Nepalese in melbourbe seems rocking. Thank buddies.

Thanks for the comments Amazing bro, but life is not so easy yaar. The problem with AusAID scholarship is I need to return to Asia after compelting degree and its not sure if you will get job in Asia. At bachelor level, such uncertainity is ok, but at my level it's tough bro. As for me, I cannot come to Nepal as SAP is not pratically implemented in Nepal. So thinking of Thailand. Because of all these confusions, I am desperately looking for sincere suggestions from people like Mimangsu and esctasy who has been AusAID scholar before and know Australi in detail. LOTs of confusions and tensions going around.

lovenepalalways bro, what if u do Ph D directly after Masters? MUST u RETURN Nepal after your degree? Cant u prolong your stay if u take another course? Abt job I think u will defnetly get yaar. Im also in full confusion these days, Very soon Ive to join Masters but Im just wondering in which country to move and which sub to choose as I dont see any future of Social Science in Western world and I dont wanna go Nepal at least 10-15 years. Currently Im in Canada but im serioulsy comparing between Aus and Can, I was in Europe before. Well, US is not my choice after getting so many suggestions in sajha. R u in Thailand or in Nep now? Im sure u will have cool life in Aus, 2 years is a long time for you in Aus, u can easily manage everything but Im wondering if ive to ride a cab in Aus:-) ---- by d way, did u watch Munna Bhai MBBS? Tension nahi lene ka.....ek chhuppy chaiye tumhe, a sweet hug...

Amazing bro, well for PHD also it's same thing, u got to return asian country for 2 yrs. As per me I am not interested for PHD at all. Cannot affod to study another 4-5 yrs more and go in academic sector. I have always wanted to go for professional sector rather than being professor and all. My masters is of 1.5 yrs..so bit better compared to 2 yrs time. I am in Nepal now. Will be leaving for Australia in June-july of 2007. Social Science has got great demand in Nepal, specially if you are graduated from foreign countries. But as u have thought, it may be wise for you to come Nepal after few years. I am not sure of scope of social science but I guess there must be some good opportunities...atlease to handle asian projects from there. I hope u understood what I mean. As for me, I am planning to do project in Siemens during my study as theuniversity where I will be studying has partnership with Siemens and thus put final semester students in real project during study time itself. Then planning to go Thailand for 2 yrs in Siemens, Thailand which is a good company in Thailand. But its all depends on luck. Well I don't mind driving cabs if I can earn 6,000 per month...earn and then have fun. Thats life. Which part of canada are you now?

Oz- There is one University (Central Queensland Uni) known as Shanker Dev Campus of Sydney. Oz bro, what could be the reasons of CQU being so famous among Nepalese?

Not only Central Queensland Uni, there are few more "rising" Universities for Nepali students . . . Balarath University, James Cook Uni etc. They are popular among Nepalis becoz of their cost (justo lagchha hai malai . . . ki kaso OZ dai?) Basically they do not qualify to become a Uni. If you go and have a look, you'll find them set up in one or two floors of a tall building, thats it, the Uni. Library? A small book rack with few hundred books. Yeh, some 60 - 70 computers in the computer lab. A coke and chips vending machine in the cafteria and thats it. Few chinese and indian lecturers delivering lectures. Infact you'll find same lecturer in 2 or 3 similar "range" Unis. . . . Reminds me of computer institutes in Bag bazar . . . those days. Kay garney brother, those are the only Unis that accept bachelors degree from our renowned TU . . . . . Sydney Uni justo ma padhna kallai man lagdaina hola ra?

PR055, Below is the Ranking of australian uni during 2006 National Rank University Regional Rank(Asia Pacific) World Rank 1 Australian National University 3 54 2 University of Melbourne 7 78 3-5 University of Queensland 10-19 102-150 3-5 University of Sydney 10-19 102-150 3-5 University of Western Australia 10-19 102-150 6 University of New South Wales 20-24 151-200 7-9 Macquarie University 25-40 201-300 7-9 Monash University 25-40 201-300 LINK...you can search it on a web Lovenepalalway, Right now i think as a student you need to contemplate on finishing your studies and gaining some knowledge. Everything will follow you if you do your things with dedication. You will get a job ..you don't have to worry about it now..enjoy your time in Nepal and when you go to Australia try psending and enjoying ur life as a student. You'll never be able to have that experiance again. From your postings above i hope i can presume safely that you haven't have an experiace like working at resturant, driving cabs or anything which we think are not too good for us. Try doing it just for a week or so and you'll be rich not in terms of money but in terms of experience. And when you look back you'll have a story to tell... from working as a bartender to what ever you'll be doing and trust me ...the most tresured experience will be working in a resturant . hehehe...so if you want to try working at any of the resturant in lygon street, st. kilda or by the side of yarra riveryou'l have an amazing experience. humm enough of lecture..... you could try volunteer in SIEMENS first and then you could get a part time job but why waste you student life doing same kind of job which you have to do it later as well. For me i think it will be a way too boring as you'll have a sme kind of experience through out your life. ITs like having a same season all around the year ...paint your life with color of different experience. I am 27 years old...finished my masters almost 3 years ago...and now i think all i want to do is play with clay. So you've a option to not to listen to me at all. There are people who think that its a complete waste of my education. As for my opinion ..what do they know about living. So what my point is ... don't be confused .. do whatever you want to do...want to wrok in SIEMENS go ahead try it out..you never know you might get it rightaway. Umm..but i think it is better to fill up the application saying that you would like to volunteer. Since you won't be having monetary problem you cud work for free for about a month and see what you can do after that. About PR ....as soon as we landed and went for the orientation we were told we are not allowed to apply for PR for 2 years and even if we marry an australian ...we were supposed to go back to the country we came from and then join our spouse 2 years later. as per (AUSAID)rule you are not supposed to work and apply for PR after completion of your degree(for 2 years) . BUt people have stayed back..i don't think its much of a problem who has time and money to spy on ausaid student. I have heard that its bit difficult these days to do that. And yes there is additional points for student , i mean for a degree you hold. if you are below 35 there is some more points..you'll get a PR . ...Its like a peice of cake for you in Australia. HAve fun.....you seem to be worried a lot.....don't worry and have fun..enjoy it while you can..pachi ta responsiblites le hold back garera hairan.
