I think some of you got some fundamentals wrong:

1) Comparing Gandhi with ParmendraSPAM? Are you okay or just plain stupid?

2) Gandhi was a fantastic philosopher even if we ignore his political givings or misgivings.

3) As I said, Parmendra "the self promoting Madhesi" doesn't deserve a damn. Forget about his ugly looks, his ugly thoughts are the ones which we should ignore.

No discrimination exists! Every MAN FEND FOR HIMSELF. Work towards one goal of respecting the hundreds and thousands of years of culture that you have! Go read some RigVeda.

Now I know what exactly he is going to say. He is going to say that this post has grabbed so much attention and criticism and hence this is the most important issue in Nepal..or may be boast in his blogs saying so many people viewed this topic and so many of them commented on it....at least he did this a while back...so he might follow the same technique..but when will he realize the mistakes he is making? when will he end his self-promotion?

If his motive is to get rights then i think he has rights to speak.If he wants to divide on the basis of region then thats wrong.Like any minority madesi community - not people who live in terai but people who speak mathali and bhojpuri have been neglected.There has been social and political descrimination against these people.more over these people further have dalit in them which get the worst part. So , i do not deny his claim that there has been descrimination.In ktm they are looked down upon as people who picks papers and bottles and selsl vegetables.But we should not ignore the fact that they are nepalese too and they do not deserve to be treated that way!

I have been to terai many times and I was referred as a पाहाडी where ever I went. I did feel awkward but other than calling me पाहाडी I did not notice anything that would suggest that i felt descriminated howver I never felt as I belong there. The people who moved from the higher hills to Terai were पाहाडी(s) and remained that way. People like parmendra uses every oppertunity that he exploits for self promotion.
I have noticed Parmendras rhetoric for a while in sajha and he uses sensitive racial propaganda for self-promotion and stay I stay away from it. There was a time when he openly asked for donations for "madise" case and he promised "transparency" but I know that he did collect some money but sad to say that I did not see the "transparency" that he promised about the raised funds.

Pokhareli do not start talking about killing pahadi and giving Paramendra ideas. One thing I can tell Paramendra is you are fighting for your people thats fine but the day you start killing my people that would be your mistake. Just as you can pick up guns so can we and when we do it will be more dangerous than the moist have ever done.

t is true that "Madhesi" people have been exploited by some who are both "pahadis" as well as "madhesis" themselves. However, the way this guy presents himself is ridiculous. He lives in NY and blogs in English to the world while the people he is supposedly fighting for are languishing in abject poverty back in Nepal. They don't know how to read and write, let alone use the computer. So, who is this guy trying to help? Himself or the "Madhesi" people?


This response was written with reference to one of the articles entitled "aire gaire natthu khaire pahadis" in one of the blogs by Parmendra.I am just going to paste whatever I had written to him. This not only includes political issues but also personal issues. So, bear with them all.

I used to side with your arguments a while ago but from what you have displayed lately, my ignorance as to a real Bhagat has been evident. I am not denying the fact that some folks in Terai are being exploited by other people but that does not warrant your attitude. Given the current socio-political scenario, I disagree this is the time to fight over all issues. I agree freedom is important but that does not mean absolute equality. Opportunities should not be made exclusive but if some "pahadis is your word but I hate to use it" grab those opportune moments while "madhesis-your word again but I hate to use it" lay back, it is upto them. Let them choose what they want to do. Let everyone have the equal opportunities to choose from. No discrimination based on origin and or caste is preferable.


Again, I am not denying the exploitation but you have been largely selfish and self-centered out here. How are those folks in deep ignorance in the rural Terai region going to understand the hi-fi attitude of a New Yorker? And how is this guy from NY going to relieve them of supression?


Barking from NY does not make sense specially when the community you are fighting for is largely uneducated. If you dare work for them, go back to Nepal. Go to every freaking village and raise awareness. Work with local government or the central one. If they don't listen to you, go into a freaking election. Get elected by "your majority" and fight it. These options are not there right now but soon will be there. And it has been long since you started this issue. So, your real motivation is in suspect. Admit that you are selfish and all you want is publicity.

Let me provide some evidences as to how you are acting irrational and insane recently.

-Whoever it is, we are against the very ideology of kingship. It is against the democratic norms. A madhesi could be president but we have no regrets over pahadi becoming one. You are a freaking racist(if i may bring pahadis and madhesis as being two different races).

What the hell are you talking about? You deserve the ridicule you received for you are acting insane here. We should be able to respect every person. That is how we are going to co-exist. If someone is good, we should respect him no matter whether he is a pahadi or madhesi.

-Remember you are fighting for those folks in terai who are largely dependent on pahadi folks. So, they need each other despite your freaking stubborn nature. Life is not as easy as writing in a blog. And remember that you got education in BNKS where you shaped yourself to this extent with the help of all of your friends. You don't need them does not mean you never got help from them. ( I am not talking about the other way round). Sometime in life, you must have gained benefit from one of the pahadis, if you deny that you are insane. Admit the freaking truth. Who wrote your recommendations? Who taught you? How much did they get for teaching? How much did you pay? Government money includes those contributed by pahadis too. So stop your freaking nonsense.


My only request is try to be humble and it will gain you some respect. And please respect everyone. You cannot gain respect from pahadis if you do not respect them. And gaining respect from all is crucial if you want to help those folks who are facing a tough life.

I know this piece has become more of a personal response to Bhagat's ideas. However, given so much interest in different blogs regarding madhesi issue, I have pasted this here. What do you people feel about this?

My Role In The April Revolution

I got myself elected student government president at the number one liberal arts college in the US South within six months of landing in the country. I have not heard of another Nepali, or Indian, or Chinese, or African, or Hispanic, or European, or Australian who did that. That is the quality of my offer. Also I don't know of another Nepali involved in local New York City politics. And, by the way, Howard Dean knows me. As does his brother. Dean and Leahy are from the same state.

As for quantity, I don't know of another Nepali in America or in Europe or in Australia, who has been doing full time Nepal work, more than full time, overtime, for a year now.

As for those who talk dismissive of my blog, Howard Dean organized his presidential campaign in 2004 around a blog. A blog is a powerful political tool. It has helped me penetrate the seven party alliance leadership and the Maoist leadership without being intrusive. My most famous reader is Madhav Nepal.

I am the founding president of Hamro Nepal, the "world's first digital democracy organization."

My involvement has not abated after April.

i could not understand allll this animosity against him, until i actually read his website. one thing that just sticks out above all...he is one BIG self promoter. he published his CV and stuff. his future goal is reorganization of the UN?????? what the hell?? and that is when i thought...just a big mouth, nothing else. if you are reallly passionate, tehn you don't go around telling people ' i joined student governmnet and NY politics, nobody else has.." and that he has been doing full time nepal work reee. may be he has, but it seems like he's been doing so for the sole purpose of making himself recognized. he is one big self labbled intellect..what do you call those? pseudo intellectuals.
as for his other aspirations, i dont' have any problems withm them. he dos not like the caste system, he hates bahuns and the so called "upper castes", he thinks all dalits should be converted to buddhismm...so on and so forth. its his right to express what he thinks. now, i might think his ideas are fulll of crap, but that should not matter, we still ought to give him his space.

ok enough of this talking.
