Some musings. Okay if Trafalgar had taken place, the brits would not have won because ......See the updated dialogue between Nelson & Hardy in "today's Trafalgar", below: ********************** Nelson: Order the signal Hardy. Hardy: Aye, aye sir. Nelson: Hold on, that's not what I dictated to the signal officer. What's the meaning of this? Hardy: Sorry sir? Nelson: (reading aloud) What gobbledygook is this? "England expects every person to do his/her duty, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious persuasion or disability" Hardy: Admiralty policy, I'm afraid sir. We're an equal opportunities employer now. We had the devils own job getting 'England' past the censors, lest it be considered racist. Nelson: Gadzooks, Hardy. Hand me my pipe and tobacco. Hardy: Sorry sir. All naval vessels have been designated smoke-free working environments. Nelson: In that case, break open the rum ration. Let us splice the main brace to steel the men before battle. Hardy: The rum ration has been abolished. Admiral. Its part of the Government's policy on binge drinking. Nelson: Good heavens, Hardy. I suppose we'd better get on with it. Full speed ahead. Hardy: I think you will find that there is a 4 knot speed limit in this stretch of water. Nelson: Damn it man! We are on the eve of the greatest sea battle in history. We must advance with all dispatch. Report from the crows nest, please. Hardy: That won't be possible, sir. Nelson: What? Hardy: Health and safety have closed the crows nest, sir. No handrail, and they said the rope ladder doesn't meet regulations. They won't let anyone up there until proper scaffolding can be erected. Nelson: Then get me the ships carpenter without delay, Hardy. Hardy: He's busy knocking up a wheelchair access to the fo'c'sle Admiral. Nelson: Wheelchair access? I never heard of anything so absurd. Hardy: Health and safety again sir. We have to provide a barrier free environment for the differently abled. Nelson: Differently abled? I've only one arm and one eye and I refuse even to hear mention of the word. I didn't rise to the rank of Admiral by playing the disability card. Hardy: Actually you did sir. The Royal Navy is under-represented in the areas of visual impairment and limb deficiency. Nelson: Whatever next? Give me full sail. The salt spray beckons. Hardy: A couple of problems there too, sir. Health and safety won't let the crew up the rigging without crash helmets. And they don't want anyone breathing in too much salt - haven't you seen the adverts? Nelson: I've never heard of such infamy. Break out the cannon and tell the men to stand by to engage the enemy. Hardy: The men are a bit worried about shooting at anyone, Admiral. Nelson: What? This is mutiny. Hardy: It's not that sir. It's just that they're afraid of being charged with murder if they actually kill anyone there's a couple of legal aid lawyers on board, watching everyone like hawks. Nelson: Then how are we to sink the Frenchies and the Spanish? Hardy: Actually sir, we're not. Nelson: We're not? Hardy: No sir. The Frenchies and the Spanish are our European partners now. According to the Common Fisheries Policy, we shouldn't even be in this stretch of water. We could get hit with a claim for compensation. Nelson: But you must hate a Frenchman as you hate the devil? Hardy: I wouldn't let the ships diversity coordinator hear you saying that sir. You'll be up on disciplinary. Nelson: You must consider every man and enemy who speaks ill of your King. Hardy: Not any more, sir. We must be inclusive in this multicultural age. Now put on your Kevlar vest; it's the rules. Nelson: Don't tell me - health and safety. Whatever happened to rum, sodomy and the lash? Hardy: As I explained sir. Rum is off the menu! And there's a ban on corporal punishment. Nelson: What about Sodomy? Hardy: I believe its still allowed, sir. Nelson: In that case - "kiss me Hardy"! **** The End ******

Anonymous, Your wit knows no bounds :-) Sound slike the weekend partying sessions had started when you started writing this..hopefully, the hangover tomorrow is not too bad :-) As far as the "fellow Nepaali" is concerned, methinks, in my case at least "Nepaali felli" is more to the point!! :-) Now for the nose - as long as it is not one of those like Pinnochio's you should be good in spite of how big it grows re kya !:-) Now for Sandhurst, I have no idea where he is but I imagine he is busy playing footie...so we shall have to wait for the Commdandant to make his appearance to get some answers from him :-)!! You have fun --not to mean that you don't already have loads of it...till later,

Anon, I read your post on the other thread by Rythm, but, decided to reply to both of your posts on this one...it's easier (read i'm lazy to write on two threads) :-) O.k..first point: the women in Bondi beach; I'll believe you that you didn't know about them when pigs starts flying:-) bechara kasto seda-sada manche :-)! Secondly, I am clairvoyant...so careful there...I know things about you that even you don't know! :-) As far as where I live is concerned..I am in the U.S..think "Sleepless in Seattle" :-) As for the missing commandant, yeah, I have no idea where he dissappeared but he does seem to have mastered the art..so we shall have to wait for him to return and let us know about this rather long spell of playing footsie that he seems to be on :-) Till later,

Anon, Your passion for the alphabet and the keyboard doubtless holds a measure of appeal for those of us who read your posts - boy, do they make me laugh. Pse don't stop hammering away at the keyboard of yours hai, though I pity it for having to endlessly bear the brunt of your merciless finger-pounding. Oh my. Yes, I am back, and you two are around. Thank goodness. What gobbledygook is this kura about you and your Bondi Beach Blondes? Three BIG Bs eh.. Blimey. Something fishy going on here or what? You must keep us abreast of the developments hai. Pukka. Dyaam that would be jolly good. Sheesh. See, I am beginning to imitate the ubiquitous Anon lexicon. I hope, all is well with you Anon. Hey, I have got to shoot off for the day. See you tom. ****************** Madam, Me, busy enjoying a long spell of 'playing footsie' re? :-) haamro chain kaam chhaina ki ke ho? grrrrr :-) But hey, 'playing footsie is also an art, like everything else I do it, ahem, exceptionally well.' There you go, thank you Sylvia Plath. :-) Didn't you know I teach at the University of Life on a course called 'Playing Footsie 101' ? :-) Fancy attending my class or what? :-) Ahem ahem. Hey, I have got to shoot off for the day - 'see' you soon. I have got just so much up my sleeves of late, and finding time for Sajha serfing is proving to be a tad difficult. Have a good day. Carpe diem

Anon, ..I am not even sure where to start in responding to your posts....hillarious as always...I'm glad you've decided to make the "pilgrimiage" down to Bondi to see the taruni's there....that hsould be quite an outing for you :-) Secondly, manche ho tauko ma nail handa "aiyah" ta huncha nai...thanks hai...concussion bhai sakyo :-) *********************************************************************** Commdandant, How wonderful having you back...even though you did forsake your virtual friends for the pleasures of "footsie playing"..you shall be forgiven! :-) Footsie 101 eh?..as I said a very long time ago...you do seem to have your hidden ..well perhaps, latent talents! ...so a "man in uniform" who teaches a class in footsie....no wonder Sandhurst...and perhaps people with Nom de guerre "Sandhurst" seem to have a profusion of the female persuasion :-)!!

Wonderful being back. Yes but even more wonderful is the display of sheer witticism that your posts bring with them. What else am I supposed to do except admire silently the whole aura of your wit - dare I say your 'unhidden' talent, madam? As for my hiddent/latent talents . Well but didn't I somewhere say - Saint Sandhurst was a wholy inappropriate name for one to have? Whatever but I have long exhausted my entitlement for the endless number of those 'footsie playing' breaks and with that inevitably came an end to what once was 'a profusion of the female persuasion'. Time for me to head for the gumbaas up in the Himalayas, don't you think? Saint Sandhurst has reached his 'sell-by' date. Oh yes! :-) :-) Oh good to hear that you've plans to visit my part of the sansaar in August. August is the time to visit Europe - it's summer obviously. I might be in Edinburgh then for the festival but we'll see. Take care. Carpe diem

Head for the gumbas indeed :-)..perhaps the Scottish higlands will do just as well :-) As far as the sell by date is concerned, I always thought that men had an elasticity in that realm that we "old hags" never did....especially in Nepal rthe community itself, the minute you cross 25..God help you..with that in mind, looks like I will be hard upon your heels heading for the gumbas myself :-) If I never have to suffer through another diatribe of "aye, chori ko beya bha chaina?" I'll be happy with the acestics in the hills yonder :-) Take care..lest you fall while visions of footsie playing abound in your thoughts :-)

Scottish highlands eh, madam! :) But they have got no gumbaas up there, only pubs. You want me to get hold of one of those one man tamboos (tent0 from Blacks, innit? :) "with that in mind, looks like I will be hard upon your heels heading for the gumbas myself :-)" Right, why not you and I jointly found a monk-cum-nun corps - 100th M-C-N Gumbaa-roosters! Oh, I would be its Commanding Officer, and you my second in command or vice versa. Sorted. :-) Okay too much woffle for one day - that's I have got this sore head.. time for me to shoot off. g'nite

Were the visions of footsie playing that stressful that they induced a headache? :-) Right..as far as the excursion into the gumbas is concerned..considering that I am directionaly challenged in the forests et all, I think you ought to remain Commandant of this venture and I shall follow..as to the pubs v. gumba..personally, a gin and tonic is head an shoulders above a prayer bead, don't you think? How on earth there is a to be a concerted effort when the ocean and what is supposedly "common language" separating the two countries we presently occupy is what we need to figure out :-) I do hope you feel better soon.

Late again! Well, what can you expect from a chronic, inveterate procrastinator? My apologies - the sore head (no 'footsie' induced symptoms that was, mind you!) and other stuff had a lot more to answer for it. Morning madam. So, you are a direction challenged, map scared one eh? Don't worry, a gucci set of GPS will come in all handy but happy all the same with your deputised position! Gin and tonic? You want me to turn into another gin-tonic-freak git or what? Goodness gracious me! :-) Keeping away from it is one tough battle that I'm always having to fight given the ever burgeoning peer pressure and now what? You for one seem to be intent on introduing upon my jealously well-guarded tapasyaa. :-) Temptations galore yes, but I do somehow come out unscathed in the face of charging demands placed upon the bichara sobered me! :-). Yes, the ocean is the impediment but then that's why they built those cruise ship etc, though these beasts do have an inexplicable temperament considering their track-record of taking refuge in the deep now and then. Whatever but I won't be boarding any ship called The Titanic hai.. (A big thanks to whoever made that film!) :-) If worst comes to worst especially now that yours truly has given up on the hope of rekindling his passion for flying since some top-gun pilots mistook the glaring, slick surface of the soaring Twin Tower on 9/11 for terra firma, kayaking/canoeing seems to be the only way round it.. Saint Sandhurst's journey across the pond in 10000 days! :-) Blimey! Now over to the next post.

The ever busy you--poor soul :-), although the busy schedule seems to have had no impact on that formidable wit. Kayaking eh?...perhaps you'll meet a mermaid a la Daryl Hannah and that'll be that :-) As far as this tapasyaa of yours is concerned, what can I say?...throwing vices into the path of one that displays wits of steel brings out the devil in some of us..temptations, temptations :-) I have a hectic week ahead..with a foray into San Francisco and Los Angeles to make, so, certainly not looking forward to "flying the friendly skies"..but i'd rather fly than be compelled to drive 24 hours...and were I to attempt kayaking down to San Fran from here, with my luck, the only thing of watery heaven I would encounter would not be Adonis but a shark...:-) Till later, Commandant. Have a good week.

Good grief madam - quick as a flash. So Daryl Hannah is yours truly's voluptuous Aphrodite eh..... hmmm... :-) Right, where is my scuba diving kit. I can't breathe like Tom Hanks, can I? :-) Go Adonis go. :) Glad to hear that you're making a trip to California again. Oh, don't take to the waters - those beasts with pouting mouths and big jaws are not that friendly you know! :-) 24 hours drive on a car to the sunny California eh.. Blimey. I would fly the friendly skies if I were you - driving to Edinburgh/Glasgow takes me at least 8/9 hours, and it's always the most taxing experience. 24 hours driving back to back is way above my level of endurance and fitness. Oh no! Health and safety madam - the corporate catch-phrase! I hope, you have a lovely time meeting your family and friends. Have a good break.

Apologies for this somewhat tardy response. Yes, the drive from here to L.A can be a ghastly one, but I am looking forward to it. The drive down the Pacific Coast Highway is undoubtedly one of the most scenic in the world and I love nothing better than long drives. I get to break journey in San Francisco after what will be a 12 hour drive and meet my sister and generally wreck havoc in San Fran for the two days that I will be with her :-) and then on to L.A for another 12 hours...or 5 if I take the other highway that goes through the urban jungles so you cut time to get to L.A. Things are rather hectic at my end since my parents have decided to move to Seattle, I'm coordinating the move, looking for a place for them etc...so yes, hectic times ahead. I know you have a work filled week ahead so hopefully it passes soon enough so you can get back to the more important things in life i.e. footsie et all :-)

Did't know I had one more post in this thread to reply - am I going blind or what? :-) Loads of thanks madam, as always. I am sure, the drive down the Highways (we call it Motorways here!) does offer some breath-taking sceneries. Would love to explore that part of Amrika one of these days - definitely. So you're taking a detour to S/Francisco en route? That's okay then. Hope the drive is a pleasant one - hey, happy havoc-wreaking, I don't know what that entails though! Have a cracking time anyway. About my driving experience - mine would be up in Lake District, Cumbria, near the border with Scotland. Driving on the bendy narrow roads in the hills and along the lakes reminds me so much of home. The Lake District has got to be the best scenic spot in G. Britain - I might be heading for the place later this spring, April time probably because that is when the rhododendrons are in the full bloom. Amazing place. Wordswoth's beloved country that is. John Ruskin, the Victorian wit and critic, lived and died there. I remember sipping coffee in the backyard of his house, Rydal Mount overlooking the Lake Coniston, some six years ago. I have not been there since, and I think, it's about time I made the trip. Definitely. Oh and the Scottish Highlands. The roads are treacherously long and winded but all that trouble/tedium of driving is wonderfully compensated by the breathtaking scenery of the landscape. I would have been a Scotsman in my previous life ke.. honestly. :-) So you have got so much up your sleeves lately eh, now that your parents too are relocating to the Emerald City. That's really good news. Still a mummy's/daddy's girl, no? :-) I did manage to finish some of my pressing projects last night, hence this free time to do small-talking. I might now put the kettle on - it's a dreary drippy day outside. Time for a cuppa definitely. Take care madam.

That was a surprise, I wasn't expecting to hear from you for the next two weeks :-) Not quite mummy/daddy's girl..no :-), My parents moved to the U.S after my sister and I moved. I then left for Seattle and my sister has now moved to San Franciso. I'd rather have them where I can keep an eye on them than in L.A..it's too much of an urban jungle for them to live there permanently..besides, I no longer have to live with microwave dinners and Pasta in various colours, shapes and sizes...I have the benefit of having home cooked meals when I go over to their place :-)..not the domesticated, quiet Nepali girl you see (little wonder then that I am on my way to the gumbas :-))!! The lake country eh? Sounds rather splendid actually. I am determined to make it there for the Spring '07 semester so maybe i'll have the opportunity to make these forays into the highlands and the lake country as well..might your forays into the highlands have more to do with a certain Lass or the prospect of a very becomming Lass than the scenery, commandant? :-) A Scot you say?..A la Connery? I love the fact that he was knighted sporting a very visible "Scotland foreover" tattoo. I better get going but hopefully, will see you later. Have a good week.

I know, madam, I have put a temporary blimp today on my self-imposed exile! :-) So you're one big tough feisty soul eh! Blimey but hey, why do you still say, the gumbaa roosting still beckons for you? Surely, many a modern Darcys would love such qualities - raw, wild and undomesticated - in their ideal Elizabeth Bennets, and I am sure, many must have taken or take immediate fancy upon the 'undomesticated' you, madam! :-) As for the reasons for my forays into the Jocks country - I don't know, the Bonnie Lass must seem like an awfully tempting prospect but for now, I suppose, I am happy all the same without one, busy as ever taking in the pristine state of the lake lands and highlands where I could indulge my passion for reading and poetry. Didn't Darcy parody a Shakespearean maxim somewhere in this line: ' ..., poetry is food of love'! Indeed it is and its plentitude negates one's necessity to attend to other priorities in life perhaps, including eh.. that of finding the Bonnie Lass. :-) Good grief, don't I get Lass/footsie grilled by 'sleepless someone in Seatle'! :-) Look at the aliteration - three thundering Ss. :-) An honorary Scot perhaps, yes but if Sandhurst were to be knighted one day, he won't be wearing the Connery kilt. Why? Because the inner sanctum of the kilt garbe is supposed to be left bare or dare I say, 'pristine'. That's why those Marks & Spencer male unde-rwears don't sell as friskly up there! :-) He might as well wear a pukka pair of daura/suruwaal and a desi version of tweed jacket. Sir Sandhurst. Boy, doesn't that sound grand? :-) Hey, he might make it to a lord too - you'll never know. Lord Sandhurst of Camberley. Wow.. :-) Time for another cuppa, madam. You take care. Till whenever, I bid you adieu.
