I don't take it at its face value as the kind of skeptic I am. It could very well be a hoax. That said, I could only echo the views expressed by Karmapa. If nothing else, it offers the country a much needed distraction from ever growing tension from the Maoists, and a respite from the talks of discredited politicians' activities. A peaceful gathering and, like Karmapa said, a flurry of economic activities for and by locals that the government would not even think of doing it to this literally god forsaken remote place inhabited by the people whom our government has forgotten a long long time back. If a faith is a corrupt practice, blind or not blind, of the sort in vogue in Nepal with the direct support from the ruling hands, the first thing the government ought to do is to crack down on the pujaris and workings of the Pashupatinath and unmask the corruption, and then, in the name of public hygiene, clean up the contaminated water flowing by the side of the temple. Even if one is to take it in an aesthetic value, I have only praises for the teenager boy meditating all day. It should offer a good model to the children of those corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and power that be, whose aim is to go to a western country. Nothing wrong with it, but do it with hard earned money and do it in a fair way. I am sure those who have come through this route will jump in here. A bit of digression but a peaceful meditation does not hurt and more so if it is helping the people, let it be so.

iZen bro, I am confused by your statements. You seem to be fairly steeped into Budhism, if there is one such thing. When you said it is a HOAX, are decrying the young man's effort or the general perception, right or wrong, felt and perpetrated by people who are around him?

Catmandu, i-zen is confused creature who wants to leran everything in this single life..but he merley knows that it is impossible. He has a vast knowladge in cosmic and civilisation. there is vast interset which cruels in his head is buddism.....Last timei suggested him to to extract juice out of all the philoshopy....like him , i was confused but not anymore.......now i am not buddist, not hindu, not christian, nor muslim or not atheist..................OOps! i only know what i am ? he is still in phase of bairagya....sometime i can see anger or exact expression on his face........ okie about this boy, we do need to be skeptist...may be this is hogas bogas like medicine of aids was found in chitwan. If the boy wants to acheive nirvana, we should leave him alone....someone was telling me...it might be a murti...statue....whatever i was reading a book called manifestation of silence, based on principal of buddha. so as he said...silence is golden i -zen bro i can send u the cd of that manifastation of silence....it touches the cosmic principal as well...coz somewhere we share similar backround of beliveing in cosmic relegion....as i say gods are aliens

Chatmandude, As much as Ram Bomzan's "during the day"effort is praiseworthy, his nights behind the curtain is equally questionable. There is no behind the scene or closed sessions for dharma slingers. No,I would not purchase a media image that delivers half-the-truth.Publicity in a tabloid manner distorts the image of enlightenment seekers if thats what the boy is convinced to achieve. As I have mentioned earlier Buddhas walk middle path avoiding extremes. The "during the day"stunt of Ram Bomzan is purely pro-myth.Self-mortification was the path even Siddhartha Gautama avoided convinced it would not lead him to enlightenment.Ram Bomzan and his media image suggests he is practicing self-torture and unless he is a super natural human soul( it is impossible for anyone to stay hungry for six months),the notion that I dismiss period.Buddhism is a realization and realization comes from human experiences, but the society like ours that endorses idol worship culture asking favors with gods has expounded its own dogmatic look at the buddhist philosophy. The day time effort of the boy to realize the truth maynot be a HOAX but the curtain that blocks him from the world at night is.And for the followers to hastily conclude this as Buddhas re-incarnation is blind faith at its peak. Buddha has already avoided the cycle of birth and death so this cannot be his re-incarnation.

_ Give this little guy a break will you? Lets not go that far as he is an incarnation of Buddha or something similar. The boy denies being a Buddha and why is every one so convinced, to prove or disprove of him being a buddha?? iZen, Buddha advocated middle path. Self torture is not there having said that Buddha had also said to question and doubt everything I said. Regardless of someone follows the traditional or non-traditional path let the person decide his own destiny. Who are we to crush someone else's effort without knowing?? We are all going with the flow of the media or against it. Lets take the middle path on this issue and see what might develop out of this boy, only time can tell! Patience and more patience! -Shiv

Moneyminded Bro, Your personal views are chorus-worthy,I believe.Dazed and confused or perhaps discontent. But isn't discontent spur of progress? It is healthy to remain hungry sometimes;).Give me a break.Vast knowledge in cosmic and civilization.I think you should re-refer the meaning vast in your pocket dictionary soon.No my knowledge is a leaf compare to that of wild sequoias;) Buddhism is a branch of that sequoia, where I have found a comfort in clinging myself tightly amid a deep spiritual crisis. I am glad to know we share cosmic religion.I think we only share ever expanding cosmos;).But the CD sounds mesmerizing;). Truly, "Lost and confused"

Shiv, If truth is worth a doubt,half-the-truth certainly is doubtful?Pardon my bluntness but this story reminds me of Clinton bombing Sudan distracting the medias concentration on Lewinsky scandal in 1998.Head of a nation in a safari-trip to nations with no diplomatic relations and so called democratic forces announcing their alliance with the rebels this is a media distraction played carefully by the manipulators. And thats all. Please excuse my ignorance!!!

iZen, Please, no apology was needed. I was only expressing my views. I am with you but don't you think every issue that is worth pondering should not be compared unless striking similarities are found? Clinton issue or maobadi-7 party alliance vs this issue are very different in nature and has no resemblance at all. I read somewhere "comparision kills love and compassion" I do not remember who the author was but it might be J.Krishnamurti. Peace, -Shiv

Shiv, I think we are disagreeing on this for the sake of disagreeing, hoina ta;).Nevertheless,we are on a same boat looking at the distant horizon. "Comparison kills compassion",J krishnamurti.Sounds familiar. The only pond of his mind that I dissolved myself was "Think on these things".Simple and penetrating.

iZen, >looking at the distant horizon Isn't that the truth. I do agree on disagreements however this is only an approach to an issue and all I am saying is lets keep the issue open until we have more information to rule on. :-) -Shiv

This whole discussion is irrelevant. whether the boy is reincarnation or not, how is it going to make any difference. we are all governed by our own Matrix of Karma. rebirth of Buddha is not going to change any aspect of our lives. i would have to agree with iZen however that Buddha cannot reborn at least sid gautam sakya since he already got mokshya. i don't understand why lamaist buddhism (tibetan?) is so after new buddha boy? can aybody expalin? P.S. i'm neither a believer nor an atheist. i like to know things not believe things. and that's the wa it should be.

From http://www.bbc.co.uk/nepali/news/story/2005/11/051126_barameditation.shtml

aray bhai, englis padhna ta aucha? ek choti ramrari hera. maile pani sun tabloid padheko jasto ta lagcha. The paper doesnt say that he has not eaten anything for 6 months. What it says is something like some people have told that he has not eaten any thing for six months. Do you see the difference? Son, You are creating confusion here, not Sun.

Grandson ChakraBahadur, don't try to be oversmart here by your english knowledge. I copied it from blogsite; neither did I translate it nor I read the original SUN. I tried to cite the source from the blogsite. But sajha.com has it's own policy; so it didn't let me cite the name of blog website.
