A small child is worshipped as a living goddess in Nepal. After certain period, she is replaced with another Kumari. The previous kumari will lost the privilege of being goddess and that privilege is given to new Kumaris according to the tradition. What happens to the future of that child is of less concern to those people who blindly follow this tradition. Once a goddess, will have to choose a life of seclusion, poverty, and many psychological illness. Along with it, many superstitions follow Kumari's life till their last breath. Can Nepal move forward without amending Kumari Pratha? Where is the child's right to play, learn, and live a normal life?

there are at least two perspective to view anything. Your post is bias. You have expressed your own negative perspective toward the tradition. It is very obvious for people who donot agree with you react against you. If you have put forward both the positive and negative aspect and then tell people to comment, you could have get discussion. The other thing you do have right to speech (write , speak), but that right doesnot give you the right to hurt sentiments and faith of any other people. I see any culture, tradition as blood, soul, heart (whatever you like to call) of a nation, so a nation cannot survive without it. Please donot initiate discussion that you donot have proper knowledge about it. It is not Kumari pratha that is hurdle to child right issue and development of nation. Without any doubt, unless a nation address the issue of child right , a nation cannot progress. But the real issue of child right is significant in the rural part of the nation. Why don't you initiate discussion how to address the issue there. I hope you will get discussion not reaction. Please donot post the issue that can bring fracture and negative reaction among people. Jai Nepal! Nepal rastra ka sabhai Janta lai chetana bhaya! Rastra bikas sahi soch, jaagar ra ekata bata sambhav cha. Hami tute rastra tutne cha kinaki ethartha ma rastra bhaneko bugol hoina hami janta hau

Rightly said 'Research', Uji is a hindu fanatic. He doesn't care about child's rights. Unfortunately, fanatics like Uji will now increase because of 'Kamal Thapa'.
