I reckon Mo:Mos are pretty widely renowned Nepali folks. Whenever we had International Dinner functions, Momos were sold/bought and eaten like hotcakes. 

Anybody who's familiar with us, Nepalese, are highly likely to be acquainted these legendary folks. 

 I can't really think of anybody who is really famous in US. Priyanka, saroj khanal? are you f**king kidding me? Prabal gurung is the closest person to being famous, I reckon.

 Jokes aside, Prabal Gurung is a great shout. Perhaps, Pukar Malla too but then except for the "educated" bunch, I don't think anybody knows who Pukar Malla is. 

Besides Prabal, Pukar Malla is another person who is one of the popular figures in United States. He has so much credentials under his belt, words are not enough, so go google.

And many may not know, and as far as I remember, Sunil Kandel, a young man who did his schooling in Japan is working at a position of Assistant Vice president in Merill Lynch in New York City.

Professor Alok Bohara - an economist who teaches in University of New Mexico is one of the most dynamic personalities who organizes seminar for Nepalese economists in USA periodically and has done several researches which primarily focusses the economy in south asia.

Mridula Koirala - A New York based Nepalese Socialite, a self proclaimed politician who claims to make an impact on Nepalese politics from the comfort of her living room has many followers. The only contribution omnipotent DIDI does to Nepal is aggravating everyone with her non-stop harangues or provide shelter and alcohol for all poitical figures who visit from Nepal.

Also Kapil Adhikari, an enterpreneur in Dallas who owns number of service stations fingers cannot count, is also very popular in America.

I still do not know who Priyanka is.

pukar malla? that harvard & cornell educated guy who worked in some big companies? self-proclaimed most eligible bachelor?  lol.. he is all over the internet. 

I am not sure if he is 'self - proclaimed' unlike Mridula Koirala. But yes, many claim him as the most eligible bachelor. I know Pukar, he is one of the most humble and wise persons I have ever met.

I take that back, I was only speaking of Nepalese most of 'us' know. As far as populartiy among all Americans, I do not think anyone is as popular as Prabal.

Still, I am struggling to understand how is Priyanka Karki popular? As far as I remember she performed a dance in a Hindi song few years ago in University of Alabama at Huntsville that got her a lots of flak from Nepalese community all over, and besides being worshipped by Nas I'd be interested to know how she is popular.

honestly i dont know who is priyanka karki and i google it...and saw her picture dating with guy and marriage picture with another guy lol.....well its her personal life...but i dont think she is popular...

Zip, I too didn't know who priyank karki was until I saw her picture posted on Sajha some time ago.  I also must admit I didn't knew who Pukar Malla was until today.  Like behoov suggested, I goggled him and found him pretty impressive.  Dude went to Cornell, Harvard, has a PhD, works for World Bank and also got some abs.  Now, about the most popular Nepali in US, how about Kiran Chettery.  I know she is half Nepali but she has to be most famous one.  Prabal Gurung is another person I can think of.

I did forget Miss [Disallowed String for - castist reference], but wonder what happened to her these days? She is not seen in CNN.

Prabal Gurung is probably the most famous Nepali.

The other academics may be deserving of being famous but are not. I was writing about the ones who are famous.

how about that kiddo who discovered water in Mars?
Prabal Gurung and this kiddo is recognized by Nepalese in America and  Worldwide I suppose.

Now are we talking about Nepali in US, who is famous within Nepalese society ? Or we talking about someone who is from Nepal, and is famous among all other nationlaities, including Nepal. People from other parts of world or even Americans know them.
Becuase there is difference.

 Priyanka Karki being 'hailed' as the most famous Nepalese was a sarcastic post, I felt. No point asking for justifications. 

And lol @ whoever suggested that Pukar Malla is "self-proclaimed" most eligible bachelor. The dude's resume, personality and talent overshadows any single Nepalis. As a matter of fact, I'd struggle to find the closest person other than Prabal Gurung who could stand 'taller' than Pukar. 

Based on what I've heard, he is one of the most down to earth, humble guys ever.
