Friends, I came to Nepal on vacation for few weeks. Had to stamp H1B so went for the visa interview. The interview went very well but at the end of the interview, visa officer handed me a letter saying they need to do some "administrative processing (220g)" on my case and will call me on my contact number and it might take few weeks. I came here for a month vacation and I am in deep tension at the moment. I havent not informed my employer yet. I have a very genuine job (not consultancy one) with good company profile. Has anybody gotten through this before? Can I expedite the process? Your suggestion will be a great help for me. Thanks in Advance, FutyaKarma

Hey you are the not the first one to go through this issue in recent days... I have heard about at least three such cases in Nepal this year and also have a colleague who had this issue in India. They are giving us hard time due to all those Indian Consultancies who issued H-1 visas without work. It is good that you have genuine work... You should not worry too much as this will be taken care of... first and foremost talk with Employer which I am sure you have already done and you need to get as much document, emails whatever from your employer stating that they need you... Another person who had same issue like you was in Nepal for more than two months, but after that he kept going to Embassy and kept calling them for answers and told them that he has to reach work at any cost or else company will have issues.. he was allowed to go after a week or so. So be proactive and keep knocking the embassy's door. You are legal so do not worry.

Thanks Guys. Talked to some people about it and they said it depends on the color of the form they handed me.....mine was white, i went through some blogs and found that the white color is the most complex one. 221G : A WHITE form is a complex category 221G - They return the Case to USCIS for further Verification. ( Reason of doubt not Known ) Most of the cases we can zero onto Employers Issues.
I am not sure why I am having this problem....I dont even know the reason... Freefalling, do you have contact info of the person who went through this? I appreciate it. Thanks

Futyakarma,
Couple of Things..Are you working in Chemistry,Physics, biotech or some Semiconductor Industry? If yes that , may be ur Job is on TAL..If it is related to TAL, then it might take months to sort out the things..
Now if u r not working in the above fields, i am sure that ur Application is related to PIMS..At most it will take 4-7 days to sort out the issue and you will be fine..So relax..Enjoy Vacation in Nepal...
In your First post you mentioned 220g ..Which form did you received from embassy? Is it 221g? Normally the color of Form in US KTM consulate doesn't really matter..
And Some suggestions for People going to Visa stamping to KTM..make sure u scan u Approval notice and attach it and sent it to KTM consulate email..Ask them if ur Info is in PIMS or not..If it is there you will not get hassle to get the Visa..and If ur Info is not in PIMS ask them to update ur Info..

Just sharing you this information if it helps; One Chinese friend of mine got similar trouble. He needed copies of his latest pay-stub, employment offer letter, and a letter stating that his employment status has not changed at all. The US embassy in China asked him to get those documents faxed directly from our office. After getting those documents faxed, he was cleared off in a week. I believe this scrutiny is not for you, but for your employer. So, you should be OK if your employer does not have issues.

Hello Futyakarma, I went through the same administrative processing in Canada in June and my case was cleared in total of 23 days. It may take 2-4 weeks in average, some times more than than that. Pyaradeshbasiharu is absolutely correct. If you are not in consultancy then your case may be either in TAL(Technological alert list) or VISA Mantis. You can get a detail about this in the following link. There are lot of people in this situation. Do not worry too much just enjoy your vacation and wait, I am sure it will go threough only the thing is wait. Good Luck and Happy Dashin and Tihar. http://murthyforum.atinfopop.com/4/OpenTopic?a=frm&f=4724019812&s=1024039761

Hello FutyaKarma, I feel for you - buddy. I was on the same boat in December of 2007. I was working for a legit company as a full-time emplyee for 4 years. As a matter of fact, I had also travelled to Canada and got my visa stamped in 2005. But when I applied in U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, I was also told that my case will require extended processing. This is what I learned from my own extensive research. Basically, computer system at any U.S. embassy uses Homeland security's Data Base for applicants background checks. During this process, if the system red flags your name for any reason you need a clearance from Homeland security before embassy touches your case again. I would not want to get into details about reasons and algorithms for red flag, but I did learn something about it too while I was researching. However, if homeland security could not clear you in 12 months, you are off the hook and embassy has to issue you a visa. This kind of case could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 year (maximum). Mine was cleared in 4 months. I informed about it to my employer and they let me work from Nepal while I was waiting. You should definitely inform your employer about the situation. This is what I did to expedite my case ( I am not sure if it expidited or not but this is the only thing in your control): I told my employer to contact local senators office in my state and they did. State's senators office made contact with U.S. embassy in Nepal and HomeLand Security and requested them to expedite my case becuase I need to be at work to complete pending projects and other reasons.. I suppose. Good luck and hold tight. I am sure sooner or later you will be cleared but at the mean time you should work on how to keep your job with your employer. That should be the wisest thing to do. best regards, gavgit.

Futyakarma,
I Know it's a Difficult time for You..But Most of the Nepalese ppl in these times "PANIC".Don't Panic..Wait ...I perfectly understand ur situation and the implications that it might have on ur Current Job...Did you talked to ur Company PPL? If u did , ask them for your company Lawyer to talk to the US Embassy...The only thing that worries me abt u is "221g for TAL"..If that's the case , it's going to take forever...Only "221g for PIMS would be sorted fairly quickly"..By any chance r u working in Logitech?
