KATHMANDU, May 31 - Maoist Chairman Prachanda has warned Kantipur Publications of serious consequences if it continued to criticize his party.
“Now
we will no longer tolerate criticism as we have already been elected by
the people,†the Maoist chief said while addressing a mass meet
organized by his party at the Open Air Theater on Friday.
“You
(journalists from Kantipur Publications) did well to continuously
criticize the Maoists before the [10 April CA] elections. Else, the
polls would not have taken place at all.†Prachanda further said, “But
we will no longer tolerate such things because we have become the
largest partyâ€.
This is just the begining, let's wait and see what he does next. He's already threatened that all the parties either join the coailition government with his party or face the hard line communist rule.
Hope Maoists don't get control over all the power.

FNJ worried by Prachanda’s anti-press freedom remarks

KATHMANDU, May 31 - Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Saturday asked the CPN-Maoist to respect the press freedom expressing its concern over the party chairman’s remarks made towards media and Kantipur Daily yesterday.
The umbrella organisation of Nepalese journalists has also urged the Maoist, which is poised to head the next government, to make public the party’s clear policy for free press.
Issuing a press statement today, FNJ President Dharmendra Jha said such remarks of Maoist Chairman Prchanda have raised suspicion over the party’s commitment towards safeguarding press freedom.

जेठ १७ गते प्रचण्डले गरेको भाषण राजनीतिक सहमति बिपरित भएको तथा त्यो भनाईको धम्कीभन्दा धेरै अर्थ नभएको नेपाली कांग्रेस र एमाले नेताहरुले बताएका छन् ।
माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्डको राष्ट्रपति र प्रधानमन्त्री दुवै पद नछाड्ने, जनगणतन्त्र ल्याउने र अक्टोबर क्रान्ति गर्ने भाषणलाई नेपाली कांग्रेस र एमालको नेताहरुले सहमतिको राजनीति बिपरितको भनाइ मानेका छन् । हिमालखबर डट कमसँग कुरा गर्दै ती नेताले प्रचण्ड र माओवादीका अर्का नेता डा. बाबुराम भट्टर्राईको अन्य दलले संविधानसभा चुनावको गणित नबुझेको दावीलाई पनि माओवादीले नै चुनावको गणित नबुझेको तथा गलत अर्थ लगाएको भने । जेठ १७ गते राजधानीमा आयोजित सभामा माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्डले राष्ट्रपति र प्रधानमन्त्री दुवै पद नछाड्ने अडान राखेका थिए ।
नेपाली कांग्रेसका केन्द्रीय सदस्य डा. मिनेन्द्र रिजालले हरेक दश जनामा तीन जनाले मात्र माओवादीलाई मत दिएको र सहमतिमा सरकार बनाउने हो भने माओवादीले आफूलाई मत नदिने सात जनाको चित्त बुझाउनुपर्ने पनि बताए । अक्टोबर क्रान्ति र कम्युनिष्ट गणतन्त्र ल्याउन माओवादीलाई जनताले मत नदिएको पनि रिजालको भनाइ थियो । 'सहमतिको सरकार बनाउने हो भने सहमतिमा आउनुपर्यो, होइन भने संविधानमा भएको ब्यवस्था अनुसार दुई तिहाई पुर्याउनु पर्यो' रिजालले भने । माओवादीको धम्कीले कोही नडराउने तथा शक्ति भए कम्युनिष्ट गणतन्त्र र अक्टुबर क्रान्ति गरे हुने पनि रिजालको भनाइ थियो ।
माओवादी अध्यक्ष प्रचण्ड र नेता डा. बाबुराम भट्टराईको अन्य दलले चुनावको गणित नबुझेको भनाइको प्रतिवाद गर्दै एमाले केन्द्रीय सदस्य शंकर पोखरेलले चुनावको गणित माओवादीले नै नबुझेको उल्लेख गरे । आफूले तीस प्रतिशत मात्र मत पाएको पनि माओवादीले बुझ्नुपर्ने पोखरेलले बताए । अन्तरिम संविधान अनुसार सरकार गठन गर्न कि माओवादीले दुई तिहाई पुर्याउनु पर्यो कि भने सामान्य बहुमतले सरकार गठन गर्न सक्ने बनाउन संविधान संशोधन गर्न तयार हुनुपर्यो भन्ने पनि पोखरेलको भनाइ थियो । 'सडकबाट बिद्रोह गर्ने माओवादीको धम्की मात्र हो, माओवादी सुरुमा ठूलो कुरा गर्छ, अन्तमा न्युनतम बिन्दुमा सम्झौता गर्छ' पोखरेलले भने ।
काठमाडौं, जेठ १७ - माओवादी अध्यक्ष पुष्पकमल दाहालले कांग्रेस र एमालेले कुरा नबुझे 'जनवादी गणतन्त्र' का लागि संर्घष्ा गर्ने चेतावनी दिएका छन् ।
'ज्ञानेन्द्रको कुबुद्धिले गणतन्त्र आयो,' खुलामञ्चमा शुक्रबार आयोजित गणतन्त्र विजयसभामा उनले भने- 'कांग्रेस र एमालेले कुरा नबुझे जनगणतन्त्र आउ“छ ।'
दाहालले अक्टोबर क्रान्ति -रुसमा लेनिनको नेतृत्वमा बोल्सेभिक पार्टर्ीी गरेको सत्ता कब्जा) खुलमखुला गर्ने चेतावनी दिए । 'अक्टोबर क्रान्ति खुलमखुला हुन्छ,' उनले भने- 'लुकेर होइन ।'
'चुनाव हार्ने' लाई राष्ट्रपतिको लोभ नगर्न उनले सुझाव दिए । 'दुनिया“लाई थाहा छ, हामीले राष्ट्रपति भनेर चुनाव लड्यौं,' उनले भने- 'अहिले हारेकाले राष्ट्रपति भन्ने -'
भाषणमा कांग्रेस र एमालेप्रति उनको बढी आक्रोश देखिन्थ्यो । संविधानसभाले माओवादीलाई नेतृत्वका लागि जनादेश दिएको उल्लेख गर्दै दाहालले राष्ट्रपति र प्रधानमन्त्री दुवै पद आफूहरूलाई चाहिने दाबी गरे । 'कुनै पार्टर्ीीवशेषलाई राष्ट्रपति दिन सहमति जनाएका छैनौं । राष्ट्रपति, प्रधानमन्त्री, अध्यक्ष यसलाई भनिएको छैन,' उनले भने- 'त्यसमा पनि जसलाई चुनावबाट जनताले हराएका छन्, तिनलाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउन तयार छैनौं ।'
कांग्रेस र एमालेले शक्ति सन्तुलनका निम्ति दुवै पद एकै दलस“ग हुन नहुने अडान राख्दै आएका छन् । सरकार गठनका लागि दलहरूबीच सहमति नभए सदनको दर्ुर्ुइ तिहाई चाहिने संवैधानिक व्यवस्था भए पनि संविधानसभामा कसैको पनि बहुमत छैन ।
प्रधानमन्त्री गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाले राजीनामा नदिएकामा उनले आक्रोश व्यक्त गरे । 'हारिसकेपछि राजीनामा दिने संसारभरिको चलन हो,' उनले भने- 'मस“ग अमेरिकाले यही भन्छ । कांग्रेस/एमालेस“ग अर्कै भन्छ कि -'
जेठ १५ मा गणतन्त्र कार्यान्वयन घोषणाका लागिमात्र आफूहरू संवैधानिक राष्ट्रपति व्यवस्था गर्न सहमत भएको उनले बताए । 'गणतन्त्र बनाउन राष्ट्रपति र उपराष्ट्रपतिमा सहमति जनाएकै हो,' उनले भने- 'नभए त्यो दिन -संविधानसभाको पहिलो बैठक) प'mुत्कने थियो । अन्तर्रर्ााट्रय सम्मेलन केन्द्रमा भाषण गर्न नपाएपछि यहा“ यो कुरा भन्दैछु ।'
संविधानसभा सुरु हुनुअघि भएको छलफलमा माओवादीले नया“ संविधान नबनेसम्म राष्ट्रपति व्यवस्था नगरी प्रधानमन्त्रीलाई कार्यवाहक राष्ट्राध्यक्ष बनाउने अडान राखेको थियो । गणतन्त्र कार्यान्वयनको अनुभूति र शक्ति सन्तुलनका लागि राष्ट्रपतिको व्यवस्था गनर्ुर्ुर्े कांग्रेस, एमालेको अडानमा अन्तिम बेलामा मात्र माओवादी सहमत भएको थियो ।
अर्का नेता बाबुराम भट्टर्राईले चुनावी परिणामको 'गणित' नबिर्सन आग्रह गरे । 'राष्ट्रपति मागेर पाइने होइन,' उनले भने- 'हिजो माओवादीले हाम्रा अध्यक्षलाई राष्ट्रपति घोषणा गर्दा भित्ताको भनेर उडाइयो । अहिले र्याल चुहाउन पाइ“दैन ।'
शान्ति सम्झौता र अन्तरिम संविधानको मर्मअनुसार चल्न आफूहरू तयार रहेको उल्लेख गर्दै अध्यक्ष दाहालले कांग्रेस र एमालेले जनादेश नमान्ने प्रयास गरिरहेको आरोप लगाए । 'जनताको यति ठूलो आदेश पाउ“दा पनि माओवादीलाई घेरा हाल्नेरे -' उनले चेतावनीसाथ भने- 'अब कसले कसलाई घेरा हाल्छ, हर्ेर्दै जाऊ“ ।'
शान्ति प्रक्रिया, बहुदलीय प्रतिस्पर्धा र संविधान बनाउन सबैलाई स“गै लैजाने प्रतिबद्धता जनाउ“दै दाहालले अन्य दलले शान्ति प्रक्रियामा बाधा हाल्न खोजेको आरोप लगाए । 'हतियार नष्ट गनर्ुर्ुर्े रे, सेना विघटन गनर्ुर्ुर्े रे -' उनले भने- 'लाज नभएपछि जे भने पनि हुने । दुनिया“मा कही“ नभएको आठौं आर्श्चर्य । हतियार ल्याएर कहा“ डढाइन्छ - बेइमानहरू ।'
अहिले पनि माओवादीलाई हेप्न खोजिएको र पटक-पटक र्सत थपेर शान्ति प्रक्रियामा बाधा हाल्ने प्रयास भइरहेको उनको आरोप थियो । 'कांग्रेस र एमालेले जनताविरुद्ध शान्ति प्रक्रिया बिथोल्दै त छैनन् -,' उनले भने- 'यसमा पुनर्विचार गर्न आग्रह गर्छर्ुर्ु माओवादीलाई जसरी पनि घेर्छर्ुर्ुन्नुभयो भने तपाईंहरू घेरामा पनर्ुर्ुुन्छ ।'
'कसैले बेइमानी गरे के गनर्ुर्ुर् भनेर जनताले मन बनाएर बसेका छन्,' उनले भने- 'आर्मी, पुलिस सबैले कुरा बुझेका छन्, जित्नेको पछि लाग्ने कि हार्नेको -'
संयुक्त सरकार र संविधान निर्माणमा दलहरूस“ग मिलेर जान तयार रहेको उल्लेख गर्दै उनले दर्ुर्ुइ वर्षा नया“ संविधान बनाई आम निर्वाचन गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता जनाए । 'हामी सत्तामा गएपछि उनीहरूजस्तै नगलहत्याएसम्म छोड्दैनन् भन्ने भ्रम नपाले हुन्छ,' उनले भने- 'हामीले जे भन्छौं त्यो पुग्दै आएको छ । तपाईंहरूले भन्या उल्टो हुन्छ । आफूजस्तो नठान्नु होला ।'
दलहरूले अहिलेसम्म पनि माओवादी चिन्न नसकेको उनको दाबी थियो । 'चिन्नु भएकै छैन,' उनले भने- 'हामी जति पनि लचिलो र कठोर हुनसक्ने खालका छौं । हामी अर्कै जातका हौं ।'
माओवादी नेतृत्वमा संयुक्त सरकार बने महत्त्वपर्ूण्ा मन्त्रालय आफैंले राख्ने संकेत पनि उनले
गरे । 'हामीले पनि सहकार्य गर्न चाहेका छौं,' उनले भने- 'माओवादीको नेतृत्वमा संयुक्त सरकार बनाउनुर्ुपर्छ । -अरू दलले) धेरै लोभ चैं नगर्नू ।'
माओवादीले सरकार र संविधान सभाको नेतृत्व कसरी गर्दोरहेछ भन्ने परीक्षण गर्न दलहरूस“ग उनले आग्रह गरे । 'गल्ती गर्यौं भने त्यति बेला आलोचना गनर्ुर्ुेला,' उनले भने- 'आन्दोलन गर्नू । माओवादीले भन्दा ठूलो । उल्ट्याउनू ।'
कांग्रेस र एमालेले चुनाव हानर्ुर्ुे कारण माओवादी नभई उनीहरू आफैं भएको उनको दाबी छ । 'आफ्नै कारणले हारेका हुन्, उनीहरू आफैभित्र छिर्नै खोजेका छैनन्' उनले भने- 'माओवादीलाई धन्यवाद दिनुपर्ने हो । हाम्रो समानुपातिकका कारण कांग्रेस, एमालेको इज्जत रह्यो ।'
चुनाव जितेका कार्यकर्तामा आउनसक्ने दम्भप्रति आफूहरू सचेत रहेको उनले बताए । 'चुनाव जितेकाले दम्भ आउ“छ कि भन्ने डर छ,' उनले भने- 'वाईसीएलको ब्यारेक सिस्टम हटाउन तयार छौं ।'
whatever Prachanda said was one of the worst statements any politicians could ever give, and that too by a person who has the 'peoples' mandate" (whatever form it be). Speech and actions going anti-parallelly is common in politicians, though Maoists have been a frequent traveller. I know, Maoists are not doing great but lets not do sth wrong in pointing out others' mistake. People act according to their consciences, and we should not expect more than what they have in their brains.
Please, lets stop using abusive language, especially relating to their parents, especially mothers. no mother is bad or characterless, (some women could be). If we have to shout at some one, first dont do it on public, second, dont include his family members,thats too ridiculous. This is my personal feeling, please do express yous.
PM ready to make any sacrifice to protect democracy

KATHMANDU, May 31 - Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Saturday said that he would be ready to sacrifice anything including his life to protect democracy, human rights and personal freedom.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists in the capital today to mark Nepal turning into a republic, the octogenarian leader said that he would ‘leave no stone unturned’ to protect democratic values and norms.
“I am committed to country, democracy, human rights and individual freedom and am ready to even sacrifice my life for these causes,” said Koirala.
Claiming that he has never backed away from his responsibilities, PM Koirala said that he will not follow the crowd and believe what others say.
The Prime Minister’s remark was clearly directed at CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda had yesterday warned that if the Nepali Congress and UML do not amend their ways, they might invite a communist republic.
This is what he said actually and media house distorted tha fact. But some fault on prachanda part because he sould not have touch this part as a leader knowing how nepali sheep mentality believes in anything that is written on newspaper. More like Hilary's blunder on boby kennedy.Nepali journalism is based in the room rather than in the field. some of examples like pashupati sjbr sells girls in india, gyne murdered birendra etc etc. Much of the surprise is FNJ 's reaction. Just another thriller in the name of unity..
Ganendra and his bonfide Sahi Ministers used to say about free press and Media are distorting facts not reality (the center of attack was Kantipur). The major part was their proud of power.
Same thing is repeated by Prachanda. "You should not do this, if we are in power....". This a proud of prachand about their vectory...This is shows how communists work in countries like China which say they have freedom and human rights.
There are so many news papers in Nepal and writing in own style, whether fact or not. people do not believe on every news...people are not folish...so nothing can happen if Commarades are good in part of the country....but start threatening everybody who writes against..this will be memory of late panchayat...the history can take U turn again.
