I intend to edit this gaf gaaf in my free time and post it back here. While revisiting, I noticed quite a few bloopers in the piece.

Basically, a very nice story, my friend! hahaaha
An enjoyable read and I clung onto every word like a ho on crack. I'm going to look up your other works in the archives, if any (this was the first one I read written by you and I must say it was amazing). Keep up the good work!

Nice treat for a day after long weekend.
"But Lucky is too nationalistic to have condoned Omkar’s remarks. “We Nepali will drink poison before we become Indians.†Without giving the specifics of the proposed mass suicide, Lucky vowed on behalf of all of us (including Paramendra Bhagat)."
LOL good one!

Yeah most people with schooling from DARJEELING, KALIMPONG, KURSEONG area are prone to use 'only' after their sentences.
'i came back yesterday only.'

welcome back sum_off. you need to visit here frequently.
As always, enjoyed reading your observations. I 'did' enjoy your 'days in nepal' chronicles alot. So, I'd be looking forward to see your observations on our beloved brothers and sisters from the glorious country with 'bhakti thapa' and 'mount everest'.
All your sentences and observations are great, but the one that I liked the most is:
When a stupid person says a stupid thing, I rather enjoy it. My principle is simple: do not argue with ignorant people because they have no fear of losing to reasons.
You seldom get an opportunity to watch two grownup men categorically molest every principle of human-style reasoning.
These sentences fits exactly for our 'kurakani' section.
“I have not looked. My wife cooked it only.†I remember him only-fying his response.
I saw it differently; he cared very less what food it was, and it gives a tone of very conservative family.

Dear dear Sum off! This is one of the best humor narrative I have ever read in my life..lol! Whatever you said of that Indian fella is sooo right! haaaahahahaha! Sorry, if I sound like a madwoman :D
Lucky Dhital..what can I say? LOL! Since you say he is a 'real' person, Sum Off, I have forced myself to believe there REALLY is a Lucky Dhital..otherwise if you hadn't mention that line, I would never have thought he was real. LOL! You should write a book called 'The Adventure of Lucky Dhital' or turn it into a comedy show like Mr. Bean.
My best line in the story....“We Nepali will drink poison before we become Indians.†LOL! Way to go Lucky!!! Wooooooooooo!!
About Indians, another thing that annoys me is when these Indians think ALL nepali ppl should understand their language. There are some of these Indians at my workplace....they think I can understand their language and when I told them I don't ( I really don't), they act surprised and vehemently refuse to believe a Nepali person can't speak Hindi. Even after 'trying to test' me by asking me questions in Hindi which I always answer 'whatever', they are like 'Don't pretend'. Too bad violence is not allowed at work otherwise I would have taken off my shoe and smacked them down right on their head and made a chappati out of them.
And yes, their way of trying to be friendly is quite puzzling. Once when I went to Indian shop with 2 friends (both guys), this Indian store owner came up and started a conversation similar to yours except later....nodding at me and looking at my friends, he added "whose wife is this? yours or yours?" #%%^*&$@
"My principle is simple: do not argue with ignorant people because they have no fear of losing to reasons." I believe in the same principle as you.
If you can, please bring more stories of Lucky Dhital..LOL! Thanx for your maajha ko narrative, Sum off!!

.LOL.... that is hillarious sum_off!!
“No. I was not here today morning. I got here at two only.†I. literally, heard an accent in this sentence, a typical indian accent. Reminded me of my Indian friends here.
Forrest Gump: I want to watch that movie again.
You are amazing!!
Please 'do' keep writing.

This is freaking awesome dude! I love your work, and this has to be one of the best pieces to come about in a long time. We need to make you famous beyond the parameters of Sajha broda..seriously.
You know, I have this habit of using 'do' a lot as well. You know I 'passed out' of Satsangi 14 yrs ago, so maybe thats where this is coming from. I am printing this thread and keeping this handy for future use against the 'only' folks.
More please!

A desi Borat, eh? :) I cant help but chuckle at the spontaneity of your comments. There might have been a time when I would prolly have been laughing hysterically but I guess I have learnt not to make fun of people accents over the years :D It is more about what you say rather than how you say it I figured.
That said, dont want to take anything away from the creativity and talent displayed in the write-up.
Best wishes.
:)

"Why are we so proud of this huge lump of ice called Mount Everest? We did not plan for it. We did not design it. We did not build it. We did not deploy it. We don’t even maintain it. It is just there. The darn thing has been there for millions of years now, because it has nowhere to go. It has one function: to sit there like Forrest Gump on a bus stop bench and watch Apa Sherpa climb to the top every 13 days."
...well said. :-)

Good read although I wished the comedy was more dry and subtle as most of the British comedies are. This work can be juxtaposed for similarities with that of Russell Peter's which I personally find more offending than funny. Good work nonetheless in writing.

" I gloated. Ah, the rewards of being a cynic. It is orgasmic."
---I feel the same way, many times, many many times.
"So this is what blogging is like? Now I see why even some marginal Hollywood thinkers are blogging in the Huffington Post."
-------I know you are referring to Alec Baldwin. Give the guy a break. He's been through too much lately.
And, yes, I feel the same way about Mount Everest. I have been an observer in many instances of my friends pumping their lungs to expand their chest cavity to describe and feel proud of Nepal's association with Mount Everest. And in each of those instances, I have looked for a corner in the room to hide myself.

Has anyone heard aishwarya speak? My goodness, her accent and english is the typical exampel of desi accent and laguage, i am not able to get her 'indian voice' out of my mind yet.

In Sajha, I have seen things get ugly quick. I am not a fighter by nature, so I will give up even before the dispute starts. Believe me this is not an insult piece.
Captain Ji,
The piece is not about accent. One sentence in the beginning may have given you that impression, but believe me you, it is not about accent or spoken English. Frankly, if accent and grammar bothered me, I would bother me a lot.
Godzilla,
Thank you for respectfully disagreeing. I welcome constructive criticisms. This being event-based situational observations that I narrated in first person, I felt the need to be transparent with my commentary. In my humble opinion, I compromised subtlety because I wanted you to feel what I saw. So I will have to, to a certain extent, disagree with you in regards to your Russel Peter comments. I can’t stand the guy.
Laughing Buddha,
Pointing what you find odd is not equivalent to: “I am better than you.†I can only express regret if you felt that way.
I thought there was a little more to this piece than some Indian phrases that I find peculiar.

good job sum_off ... thoroughly enjoyed once again ..
>> You do not ‘stay’ in your permanent address. You ‘live’ in your permanent address. During the Memorial Day weekend, you drive away from where you ‘live’ and ‘stay’ at your friend’s place for a day or two (temporarily).
LMAO
hahaha, I cannot stop laughing, this is funny bro !
