Ok, enough said and heard. I would like to feel the pulse of the sajha dudes and dudenums...or whatever. If you have been here in the US long enough to know the 'amrican' life, can you list out few things from your own experience to prove that life here in the USA is in fact better than back home.....I seem to be disillusioned by the amrican lifestyle...maybe i am growing old.....

Life is not better here nor there ..it is your perception of life.

-- why life is better in US (in my view)

- simple basic necessacity like water, electricity which helps us to live comfortable life is so easily available

- you work hard here you work hard in nepal so working hard isn't a question..no body gets anything for free

-- there is no nepal bandh, chaaka jaam..people are more civilized -- what are we comparing????
apples to oranges...one of the most proseprous nation to one of the poorest nation

spirituality--- people might say american life is too materialistic ..true ..but again it is how you want to live -- you have freedom to choose ..

greatest thing freedom, comfortable life(after all why we work hard just to make out and our loved ones life comfortable, correct?,no civil war.

there are lot of things i can go on and on

Yeah, I can take a shower anytime I want ... hot or cold water -- no problemo. Life must be pretty and electrifying. Electrifying coz freakin' load-shedding is one of those words that I seem to have forgotten, like the name of the girl once I was proud to have by my side -- back in my 9th grade. Among other things...

I think there is more to this life here than being able to have shower anytime, clean drinking water, no bandh days etc.... I guess with a decent income one can get all of these amenities of life in most major cities of nepal-of course paying little extra. And, I think everyone has as much freedom as here to do what they want, at least in the cities...so I don't really see what you can't get in say kathmandu that you can get here... convince me....

Well, IMI, that wasn't the intention why I said 'convince me' ok!! Of course, I have lived one both sides of the world couple of times back and forth, hence I am just trying to generate interest in the discussion for those who support life style here. I like the most of the 'SYSTEMs' here...road, education, work, gov't (maybe not all of them) and whole lot more systems which are no doubt muct better than our country...simpy cuz they are reliable and available for all to enjoy. Of course, I like the far-sighted, flexible and all-encompassing, scalable constitution that treats every individual fairly and with respect. And of course I like the idea of earning much more money in the corporate world than I could earn back home...though as a succeful (and ethicless) bizman I could earn enough back home itself. Having said all this there are certain cultural and spiritual aspects of life in nepal, it is not comparable with USA...which is what pulls back the heart of most nepalese...espcially once they start to retire from the hectic/active lifestyle here!

I came to the states when i was 18 and now i am institutionalized to US. I cant think of living anywherelse including Nepal. I cant think of leaving US. It scares me and i dont know why. May be its the simplicity of life here. U work and live a okay life with less hassel i guess. But here are few things why i wouldnt leave US for Nepal for good.

Water

highways

high speed internet

Jobs

Sex

dipankar, first convince us that you can get water in Kathmandu anytime you want. Forget hot-water, cold-water, just water. There might be more to life than water, electricity and what not, but my friend, lets not forget water is basis of life and let's start with it before we get into darker side of life.

If it hadn't been for those corrupt and totally useless bureaucrats and their systems, the Melamchi water would be there in KTM by now...unfortunately that is not the case and i agree with big K that water is a big issue. I have dug few wells in my home to keep up my supplies. There are still plenty of water basins underneath KTM valley - if managed well could provide regular supply. In many case, the issue is not the water, it is the poor management of it and its unfair distribution. But this theory would apply to most things not working in nepal....

and we all know how people are so united for this ..hahaha
well another things the people of melamchi are pissed now they don't want this project..goodnews.

things i like about us.

1) interstate--driving at 125 mph is quite my hobby these days..(no haven't got a ticket yet...i am dying for one :P)

2) grocery stores-- the sound that comes when they scan items in gorcery stores..i lop it's melody.

3) i lop american restrooms. dang all of them have continuous water supply and paper towel, aplenty. i feel like dumping at least thrice a day :P.

4) safety--i am way too careless at times. i have this knack of leaving cell phone wherever i go. and once i left my digital camera worth 900 bucks at a mall. i have been lucky till date..haven't lost anything :P.

i will write things i hate about US later...

Big K? Lol, I like that. eh.

Aba let's not talk about had, should, would, could, shall we?
Had P. L. Singh been right, Kathmandu would be another Singapore. ... and then sh*t hit the fan. I can take a shower anytime I want and that makes my life beautiful. Few small things that make my life awesome and one of them is water. Hope that's same with you.
