There is another one called "Well Hung" at the corner of RedLight square. They have fresh Chinese brand juicy hot dogs.

coming all the way to Chicago for some Indian and Chinese food? Why???????? Instead, How about trying the famous deep dish pizza where it all started at the very first UNO restaurant or the scrumptuous continental food at Signature Room while enjoying view from 95th floor of John Hancock Tower or Argentinian Steak at ..... oh there are so many uniquely Chicagoan gastromical pleasures, but Indian and Chinese food don't come to mind, even remotely. But, if you must, here are my two recommendations: Indian food: Tiffin at Devon Street. The decor is nice, food is pretty good but not something you would be compelled to write home about, lunch buffet (around 10 bucks) provides lots of variety. Chinese food: Joy Yee's in Evanston. Community style seatings, fast service, regular but tasty Chinese cuisine served on interesting platters, fruit smoothies with tapioca to die for, again around $10 for lunch. Well, make that three recommendations... While you are in Evanston, why not drop in at our very own Nepali restaurant. It is called Mount Everest. Ramakant Kharel, the friendly proprieter, is usually around to chat with you. Food, unfortunately, is 99% indian variety. But the decor is something to admire and just the overall good feeling from knowing that a Nepali business is doing extraordinarily well in Greater Chicago's one of the WASPiest areas. ps- disclaimer: None of these restaurants have paid me or given me free meals for writing this piece, but they should, shouldn't they? Can you tell 'em that?

Shere Punjab?? ImI, you kidding?? You refer a restaurant like that to someone who is going Chicago for food. It's so cheap and ugly, never ever go there other than to fart. Tiffin definitely a good choice. ~Ram

Thanks Slipknot. If you are who I think you are, a mutual friend of our's used to give me gift certificate to The Rivers - fancy spancy place in downtown Chicago right on Chicago river. The woodfired steak there was the best I have ever had. So yes, I should recommend that place too. "The Rivers" Best for woodfired steak. But quite an expensive dig, around $35 for a steak dinner. With drinks, tax and tip, your bill could reach easily around $70 per person. That's way out of my league, but once in a while at special occasion, this is definitely a place to have a meal.

ss74k, points well taken. But I stick with Nepali, indian and chinese along with mexican food while I am travelling because I know they taste good and I like it. But it's a personal preference. Sgy: Gift Certificate offer is still on. Visit mteverestrestaurant.com and email me your mailing address. :)
