Reasons:
1. Too diverse: Bahuns, Chettris, Magars, Rais, Tamangs, Newars and god knows how many other ethnic groups are out there. No matter how much Nepalis believe there is "peace" among various groups, the truth of the matter is that ethnic tension has always been with us, although we may have been oblivious to it in the past. Recent problems bring this tension into the limelight. The result is of course the Maoist insurgency, and yes, this stems from ethnic problems.
2. Geography. Seriously, Nepal lacks natural resources. We got tall mountains that affluent Westerners like to scale. So I guess some of us have to work as "guides" to make ends meet. Others will have no option but to go to India to work as Chowkidaars. Some other people will sell their preteen daughters to Indian pimps. The contract lasts till these females(they probably don't even have menstrual cycle going for them) get infected with AIDS. Then off she goes back to where she comes from since she's damaged goods. Plus, she's probably thirteen by now. Indian johns don't want teenagers with whom to have sex. They want preteens. Why settle for teens when preteens are just as abundant, if not more? What's even worse is that Nepali parents are willing to sell their daughters to Indian pimps. Furthermore, some of these gals may decide to run away/elope with people they trust only to be handed over to brothels. Had their parents treated them well, they wouldn't be running in the first place. The future of Nepal looks quite bleak. Better make some bucks for a rainy day. Japan doesn't have natural resources either, but guess what, their skulls aren't hollow. See #3.

3. IQ of only 78. Nepalis are just a bunch of dumbasses.

Conclusion: Immigrate to Hong Kong or America and don't ever look back. That's the best move you will ever make. And remember the phrase "don't forget to close the door on your way out"? Guess people who decide to stay in Nepal can't use it on those opting to go to some other country coz Nepalis can't even afford doors. Nepal is a failure. Nepal is one of the poorest countries around. We are just lazy and we love beating our women. Most of us are all prolly ensconced in our comfy sofas and what not and speculating on how Nepal should be run. We have no clue. LMAOOOOOOO. Let politicians line their pockets. They wanna lead happy lives, like we all do.

I do not agree with you 90% but I agree 10%.

(1) Diverse or Ethnics:
You are pointing that diverse people are the problem of Nepal. I would say that you are wrong 90%. United State of America is great, strong, rich and powerful… because of diverse people. In USA, people are from whole world like British, French, Italian, German, Russian, African, Arabian, Mexican, Red Indian, East Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese…. Black, white, Red, richest, poorest, Brilliants, Dummies, Most dangerous, most beautiful etc.

Actual Diverse is super great. But the most important things is that constitution, law, order, rule, regulation and human management must be strongly implement to control diverse people. That is the key.

(2) Geography of Nepal:
Nepalese crooks and dummies always blame to Nepal because of land lock geography.

This is just an OLD time story. Not for 20th century. People started to look water in other planet.

But these people never ever see the best part of Nepal, or good quality of Nepal. Proverb say “To get pearl, you have to go deep down into ocean.”
See … Nepal has 11 highest and more 80 the most beautiful mountains in the whole world. There are un-countable beautiful Hills, Huge Rivers, Lakes, Huge Forest, Wild animals, Birds, Medicine plants, flowers. Terai are the most fertile land. You travel around the world and will find that Nepal in Top 3 most beautiful nation.

We can turn Mountain, Lake, Hills into the most expensive and the most exclusive resorts and generate revenues. We can really turn Nepal into heaven that people are looking for. Forest, Wild flowers, Medicine plants can be the 3rd largest business and revenue generator. Terai is very fertile land. If we use modern tool, equipment, land management and technology…, it will be like Oil Wall for Nepal.

(3) Man power of Nepal:
According to land of Nepal, Population is enough for Nepal. The most important things that we have to create strong truly democratic constitution, law, order, rule and regulation. We have to control Nepalese population by doing human management. We have to create social culture that corrupt, crooks and criminal must get hard punishment, and contributor to country must get honor. Hard working people must get recognition and bad people must kick out from jobs. We have to collect TAX and REVENUE. We have to create development projects, business, and jobs. So we do not have to go to foreign countries for jobs with risking our life. If you look back to USA, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, All countries were very very bad. But people turn it into the richest countries. Yes,… it will be very very taugh and hard. But …. If you want to eat MOMO, somebody has to cook it.

Just one comment. Diverse countries that have succeeded are 1) America 2) Canada and 3)Australia, all founded by immigrants. For some reason or another immigrants tend to be more hard-working.
China will succeed over India by my theory because Chinese are more homogeneous. India is so damn diverse that I don't see much hope. I hope I am wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

Some dudes are afraid of heterogenous people. And you live in USA. Pathetic.
Yes we lack resources and also we have surplus man power with is increasing very fast indeed. These are reciepe for disaster no doubt under present chaotic political situation.

If politics is good and government is pragmatic we can reduce the suffering to huge extent but nevertheless the suffering will remain.

A letter from Korea

By BAN WHI MIN

Who do you think will cry for your Nepal? Who do you think will be able to respect the spirit of the Himalaya and to keep the lonely flag representing it?

Nepalis complain about the caste system and corrupt officers. They openly vent their anger against the government. But have they ever thought About Nepal's real problems? I believe that they have not. I want to say that Nepal's real problems are lack of patriotism among the people and lack of love for one another. This is the conclusion I have reached during my stay in Nepal. This summer, I did voluntary work from July 5 to July 30 at FHI Ever Vision School, Matatirtha, Kathmandu.

Let me first tell you about my country, Korea. This might help you understand my point. Just after the Korean War, which claimed the lives of more than 5 million Koreans, Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world. Without natural resources, Korea had no choice but to desperately struggle for its survival by all means. Under this gloomy situation, Koreans envied other Asian countries like Japan, Taiwan, and Nepal. Korean government officials were horribly corrupt.

With the dual classes of Yangban (nobles) and Sangnom (peasants), the Korean society was sickening day by day. However, Koreans, having a determination to become rich, overcame the unfair social structure and put the country onto the track of development.

When the former president Park Jung Hee took over the government, there were few factories in Korea. Korea could not attract loans or expect foreign investments. Under these circumstances, President Park 'exported' miners and nurses to then West Germany. The salaries that they earned were used to build factories and promote the industrialization of Korea.

In 1964, when President Park visited then West Germany, the miners and nurses asked the president when the Koreans would become rich. The president replied, crying with the miners and nurses, that someday the Koreans would become rich. Many Korean scientists and engineers, who could enjoy a comfortable life in the United States, returned to Korea with only one thing in their mind: the determination to make Korea the most powerful and prosperous country in the world.

They did their best even though their salaries were much less than what they would have received in other countries. The Koreans believed that they have the ability to change their desperate situation and that they must make the country better, not only for themselves but also for the future generations yet to come.

My parents' generation sacrificed themselves for their families and the country. They worked 14 hours a day, and risked their lives working under inhumane conditions. The mothers, who went to work in factories, fed their babies while operating machines in dangerous environments. They always tried to teach their children the true value of 'hard work'. Finally, all of this hard work and sacrifice made the prosperous Korea that you see now.

Nepalis, have you ever cried for your country? I heard that many of the Nepali youth do not love their Nepal. I also heard that they want to leave Nepal because they don't like the caste system, or because they want to escape the severe poverty.

However, they should be the first ones to voluntarily work for Nepal's development, not the first ones to complain and speak against their country. I have a dream that someday I would be able to free the souls from suffering from the underdeveloped countries, anachronistic customs and the desperate hunger. My belief has become stronger than ever after seeing the reality in Nepal.

A child with a fatal disease who doesn't have enough money to buy a pill; a child living in what seems like a pre-historic dwelling and not having the opportunity to receive education; and a student who cannot succeed, no matter how hard he studies, just because of the class he comes from.

A society, in which wives not only take care of children but also work in the fields, while their

husbands waste their time doing nothing; a society in which a five-year-old must labour in a brick factory to feed herself.
Looking at the reality of Nepal, I felt despair; yet this sense of despair strengthened my belief. I already know that many of the Nepalis are devout Hindus. However, nothing happens if you just pray to hundreds of thousands of gods while doing nothing. It is action that you and Nepal need for a better future.

For Nepal and yourselves, you have to show your love to your neighbours and country just as you do to Gods. You know that your Gods will be pleased when you work for the development of your country and improvement of your lives. Therefore, please, love your neighbours and country.

Teach your children to love their country. And love working itself.

Who do you think will cry for your Nepal? Who do you think will be able to respect the spirit of the Himalaya and to keep the lonely flag representing it? You are the ones responsible for leading this beautiful country to a much brighter future. This responsibility lies on you.

To: thugged out,

First place..... You do not have good knowledge about China.

If you study about China, You will find China is the first and the most diverse country in the world. But later years.... USA became the most diverse country.

China has more than 55 different ethnics groups. There are Taosim, Buddist, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jews, too. China used to have more than 25,000 gods and goddes. But communist cultural revolution took some control.

Some general info:

" you study about China, You will find China is the first and the most diverse country in the world. But later years.... USA became the most diverse country"

Boy, could you be any more wrong or what! Wikipidea states China is 92% Han Chinese. Another proof is here:
" Han Chinese 91.9%, Zhuang, Uygur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, Korean, and other nationalities 8.1%"

http://www.indexmundi.com/china/demographics_profile.html

Yes, China is pretty homogeneous.
Furthermore, Chinese people aren't that religious. Communism has taken care of that.
Also, about America's diversity, two things: 1) Whites make up about 80% of America(including hispanic Whites). So that's homogeneous already and 2)America was founded by immigrants. I feel that even if Hispanics replace Whites as the majority, it'll still be a powerhouse. People from all over the world would wanna come to America. This ain't gonna change.

Nepal has wayy too many ethnic groups. Even if you combine bahuns and chettris, that's only about 40%. Furthermore, Madhesis, if you lump them together, make up about 30%. The rest make up about 30%. And I'm not even including caste into this equation. Furthermore, religion adds more diversity as well.

India is one of the most diverse countries on the planet and I don't see them doing that good. Diverse countries fail. Simple.

Nice, boy are you a fuking idiot or what. 92% Han Chinese make China homogeneous. Compare it to Nepal and India, you dunce. Are you gonna count those 8% that nobody cares about and state that China is diverse? Dude, you're a moron for sure.
America is of course diverse, but granted that 80% of Americans are Whites, it is pretty homogeneous. America has a totally different concept of race, and within that frame of reference, America is homogeneous. There are hardly any country out there that's highly diverse and developed, unless the country was founded by immigrants.
It's all about relativity, you idiot!
Nepal's IQ is only 78.You must be an average Nepali for sure.
Get that stick out of your ass, turdbrain.

Here's the link:

Hong Kong is at 107. Equitorial Guinea is at 59(boy, these people must be retarded). We beat Zambia by only two points. Looks like Samoans are smarter than we are. Indians too. Looks like Qatar is just as dumb.

Nepal's Diversity:
Chhettri 15.5%, Brahman-Hill 12.5%, Magar 7%, Tharu 6.6%, Tamang 5.5%, Newar 5.4%, Muslim 4.2%, Kami 3.9%, Yadav 3.9%, other 32.7%, unspecified 2.8% (2001 census)
Hindu 80.6%, Buddhist 10.7%, Muslim 4.2%, Kirant 3.6%, other 0.9% (2001 census)

China's Diversity:
Han Chinese 91.9%, Zhuang, Uygur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, Korean, and other nationalities 8.1%
Daoist (Taoist), Buddhist, Muslim 1%-2%, Christian 3%-4%
note: officially atheist (2002 est.)

America's Diversity:
white 81.7%, black 12.9%, Asian 4.2%, Amerindian and Alaska native 1%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.2% (2003 est.)
note: a separate listing for Hispanic is not included because the US Census Bureau considers Hispanic to mean a person of Latin American descent (including persons of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin) living in the US who may be of any race or ethnic group (white, black, Asian, etc.)
Protestant 52%, Roman Catholic 24%, Mormon 2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim 1%, other 10%, none 10% (2002 est.)

So according to this forum, less than 30% of Nepalese are screwing the rest asses.

hey thugged out,
when i started reading your thread, i thought hm...pessimist you might be, but may be there is a point to your argument..i kept reading and then you arrive under the topic of geography. here you mention how preteen girls are sold to brothels in india...and then that is what you talk a about for the rest of the paragraph, which is quite long.
i ask you waht is the connection between geography of nepal and pimps in india?
my point is your argument is weak. it lacks any research or facts, you have little idea of the real situation and how deep the problems in nepal really go. what you are trying to here is show nepal is as much as negative light as possible and try to gain some amusement.
and let me tell you what, no matter how much you loate nepal or pretend like you do, for twenty seven million people, its home .......and that is not going to change.
