i was lucky to get my dv right after my 10+2. i came to america and that was my dream come true. i studied environmental science since i liked biology related subjects. I finished my bachelor in four years. worked in starbuck and in a local bank to support my school and living. I finished my college last year in 2008. I was happy that i finished my bachelor but to my suprise i have not been able to find any job in environmental science or anything related to biology. Is it me or is it the recession in america. Can somebody please give some inner insight in this matter or some truthful advice in this matter. I would greatly appreciate some adive from poeple in this field. thankx for any response.

Tough question there you've just raised lady. Truth to the matter is, you're better off going to grad school while you work around to pay your bills and earn money to fulfill your basic necessities. I'm in the same boat. Fresh college grad. Eligible to stay in the states legally without any pressure of going to grad school or finding a job. I'm taking it slow and I've been working full-time at a place that pays me hourly wages. I could've started looking for jobs but since I'm planning on visiting Nepal for around 2-3 months later this year, I didn't really wanna find a decent job which would definitely hamper my chances of visiting Kathmandu. Besides, your majors don't sound too "appealing" unless you were to have a Master's or a doctorate degree. Let me know if you need more suggestions. I've got loads of 'em :)

i would suggest you to apply to government agencies. at the same time pursue higher degree in environment science. DC area, new orleans might have more jobs related to your major. identify which subjects have better job prospect while applying to grad school. However, sometimes people prefer going after the subject of interest as well. so, its up to you.

Young and eager to seucced, Most DV winner are lost but you have finished your college, that is good news. Think of going to school again that is your filed of interest, by the time you finish school may be the economy will revive and job will be awaiting for you. Those who laid off or looking for a job has no choice to but grabbing what ever in comes first, time is money.

thanks to you all for every suggestion and advice. Thanks to everest2 for sharing the web site with me. Most of the people says its better of doing master than waiting for a job. so i might have to do that and not bother too much about a job. And maybe that is the best thing for all the other people who are looking for a job in vain.
