I graduated last May with honors with my undergraduate degree from US. I have been working full time (salary basis, study-related) under OPT, which is going to expire in May this year (I declined to get H1B as I wanted to go to grad school). I have been accepted into one of the best graduate schools in US. They haven't decided my fundings yet, however it's a matter of time when I will get it. It may be before or right after I enroll. I am planning to go to Nepal for the summer before I start grad school in fall. I will have to reapply for visa since my undergrad visa already expired. Does anyone have similar experience? Is there any risk of not getting visa renewed? Does anyone know any past incident? Any information no matter how tiny it may be is highly welcome and I appreciate everyone in advance for the suggestion/information. Thanks.

Financial support is one thing that the visa issuing officers scrutinize these days. If you get full financial support from the school then you should not have any difficulties in getting your visa renewed. If not, then you may need to show the source of financial support from other means, personal fund or sponsors etc. I don't see complications in any other aspects. You should be perfectly fine. Good luck.

If you are so sure to get funding, wait until you get the letter before filing for visa. Did you already get the I-20? If you get some funding, you will have no problem for visa, not at all. Which grad school is it, if you care. Best, Lonely1

i am in a similar situation too. planning to go nepal on may and return to us for graduate studies in august. from what i know, it should be okay as long u havent broken any serious laws. also u shud be able to show financial support to study in usa. my only problem is the political situation in nepal seems violent.
